The World’s Largest Aquarium in Berlin

July 11, 2012

Have you ever asked yourself, what is the world’s largest aquarium? If so, then you are in the right place! The Aquadom was constructed in 2004 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Berlin-Mitte. This complex also includes offices and a restaurant. The aquarium actually contains a glass elevator in the center of it. With over 1,000,000 liters of water and more than 1,500 fish, this thing is massive. Enjoy the breath-taking view as you enjoy a drink at the bar surrounding this structure. It looks as if someone cut a piece out of the ocean and brought it on land. You wouldn’t think of scuba diving in Germany if it wasn’t for the engineers and architects that made it possible.

Building such a structure was not so easy. Not only was it close to impossible to move the aquarium parts without damaging them, but the design team had to take in many factors. Some of these elements include the tons of pressure that the water creates, and the stability of the structure within the elements of weather. A mind blowing experience is created from expertise engineering skills. This was all possible because of the greatest architecture firm in Berlin NPS Tchoban Voss:
