One World Trade Center Construction at Ground Zero

July 16, 2012

An Iconic American Building

The attacks of the Twin Towers or World Trader Center brought anger, frustration, discrimination, fear, and suffering to the people of the United States. On the same say of the attack mayor Rudy Giuliani stated, "We will rebuild. We're going to come out of this stronger than before, politically stronger, economically stronger. The skyline will be made whole again." Mayor Rudy Giuliani was true to his word as construction for a new building at ground zero was erected starting in 2006. It is estimated to be completed next month August 2012. This will be the tallest building in the Western hemisphere and 3rd tallest in the world. Topping out at 104 floors. The building looks strong as it does have extreme safety implementations. The building was the most expensive building at one time costing whopping $3.8 billion.

Building on ground zero brought many debates for years after the attack. In my opinion it is very important to build back to give show that we are stronger than ever. The name was formerly called Freedom Tower but then was changed to One World Trade Center, as there are a total of seven World Trade Center buildings in the area. I like that the building is completely reflective showing the surrounding buildings. Ground zero was once a symbol of devastation and loss of life, and now it is a symbol of recovery, and strength.

This video shows the construction of the building.
