Hugo Chavez Dead, Miraflores Palace Empty

Today, news has spread that Hugo Chavez has died at age 58. After battling with cancer for the past year or two, he succumbed to issues related to severe respiratory problems.

Mr. Chavez had not made a public appearance since he returned to Venezuela last month after cancer treatment in Cuba.

An emotional Nicolas Maduro made the announcement on Tuesday evening. Earlier, he said the 58-year-old Venezuelan president had a new, respiratory infection and had entered "his hardest hours".
