Mexico City is the country's largest city as well as its most important cultural, political, educational and financial center. Mexico City has nearly 9 million inhabitants and is one of the most important trade cities in the Americas. It takes the spot for most populous Spanish speaking city.
Mexico City has been known for its corruption and crime. At one point in the 2000's over 400 crimes were reported each day in the city. The government has spent a lot of money on trying to keep its police force from being corrupted.
