The History and Architecture of the Empire State Building

The Building That Defined America’s Prosperity

The building that held the title of world’s tallest building for over 40 years has been around for a while. Yes, of course, the Empire State Building has been around for a while, close to 90 years. The building is an American cultural icon, not only because of its history, but also because of its architecture. It is currently the 23rd tallest building in the world at 1,250 feet. Another interesting fact is that it was the first building to be built with over 100 floors.

People can visit the skydeck area of the Empire State Building for great views of New York. The most popular floor to visit is the 86th floor where there is an outdoor observation deck and a tourist shop. The Empire State Building is categorized with Art Deco architecure. The building features two modernistic stainless steel canopies at the buildings entrances. Check out pictures of the building.
