Where Window Shutters Can Be Used Architecturally

Every day we pass tons of houses whether they are in your neighborhood or just seeing them from the roads. Architecture has come a long way over the last few decades, and the designs are getting better and better. You will often find yourself fascinated by the different models you see from one-stories to multiple stories. Nowadays, there are a lot of houses that not only have a beautiful color to it but a sense of creativity. How many houses do you see with shutters on them? Most would say many, and they make a beautiful addition to the house. There is just something about them that catches the eyes of many.

Window shutters are one of the most attractive exterior features to add to your home. People tend to stop in their tracks when they see a beautiful set of window shutters. Who could blame them, they are just so stunning to look at.

Now, window shutters are believed to have originated in about the 15th Century which means they have been a part of architecture for quite a long time. In fact, history says that the first window shutters were constructed with fixed louvers. Back then, these were made with marble but the eventually replaced with wood. Over the years a lot of different materials have been used to improve the use of window shutters. A lot of people often ask do they really need window shutters to be a part of their homes. Ideally, the decision is going to be completely up to you, but they would indeed make a great addition. If you are considering them, then you are going to be in for quite the new look.

With there being so many styles and options to choose from, it can be hard to figure out what you like the best. Look at your house, and more importantly, look at the windows. That’s going to be the first step to take in the decision process. Trust me when I say that you will have a lot of choices to choose from.

Classic Panel Shutter

Going with a classic design is going to be one option that a lot of people are going to be interested in. Panel shutters are actually one of the more common options to go with. They are mostly used in those cold regions where ice, heavy winds, and snow can actually damage your window frames, or even worst your glass. These will come in a raised and recessed variety.

Board-and-Batten Styled Shutters

This is a style that’s constructed from a number amount of individual wood boards. They are joined together with a set amount of shorter crosspieces referred to as battens. It’s a versatile option that can be cut into various shapes, but it depends on the window. A shutter selection like this is actually designed for farmhouses, cabins, and cottages. Even so, they can be used for your homes as well.

Ranch Style Shutters

The great thing about Ranch Shutters is that they are long and rectangular shaped. This is a style that has remained within the more popular selections for a number of reasons. These are shutter that can give your home that essential feel of peace.

Everyone is going to have a different look at what’s best for their home, while these are a few options, there are more to look into as well. You always want to make sure that you are picking out a style that you are comfortable with. Once you have that, you’ll be on your way to making a great change to your home.
