Core Clothing Pieces

When moving to a tiny home, you’ll need to take stock of your wardrobe. Get rid of items that you don’t wear, and pare it down to your essentials.

Keep staple pieces that you can wear every day. Make sure you pick out essentials for every season.

Kitchen Items

Try and get rid of your single-use appliances. Sell your popcorn popper, waffle iron, rice cooker, bread machine, and yogurt maker.

Get rid of any duplicate items you have. You don’t need two crockpots and a handful of spatulas. Donate your extras to a charity.

The same goes for appliances. You don’t need a Keurig, cappuccino maker, and a coffee maker. Pick your favorite and give away the rest or sell them.

Living Room Items

People tend to accumulate tons of video games, books, music, and DVDs. Go through these items and decide what you’ll keep. Keep the ones you use often. Start going digital, if possible. You can buy books on a Kindle.

Take a look at your furniture. Are some pieces worn down or ripped? Consider donating these items and getting some new quality pieces for your tiny home.

Instead of buying a lot of mediocre items, and clustering your item, focus on quality pieces.

Bathroom Items

The bathroom’s a spot that can get overcrowded with items you don’t end up using. Go through all the cabinets. Toss old and expired medications and prescriptions.

Get rid of any half-full bottles of shower gel, shampoo, or conditioner. Throw out old makeup products, nail polish, and expired sunscreen.

Do you have a ton of extra unopened shower gel, cosmetics, and shampoo? Consider donating these to your local homeless shelter.

Try to get rid of small appliances you don’t use all the time like steamers or hot rollers. The goal is to pack essential items you use all the time.

Don’t Get Stuck Storing Items

The quicker you can decide on what items you will sell, give away or toss, the less stuff you’ll have in storage. Try not to delay these decisions even if you have a place to store your things for free.

If you don’t have a space for your items, you’ll need to pay for storage. Save yourself money by going through your things on the front end. If you need to throw away a ton of rubbish, check here.
