5 Tips For Choosing The Best Replacement Door Handles

Are you looking to update your home by replacing your door handles? Well, you need to make sure the new door handles fit effortlessly. Also, they should cover up any marks or fixing holes left by the old handles. Here are the best tips when buying new door handle packs to make sure the new handles fit perfectly.

 

Dimensions Backplate Or Rose Size

The dimensions of the backplate, as well as the diameter of the rose on the new door handles, should be sufficient to cover up the old fixing holes or marks from the older handles.

 

Centre Measurements

Take the center measurements for all the doors in your house with locks. Internal doors have a lock center of 57mm. It’s the distance between the spindle and the keyhole.

 

The Size Of The Lock Or Latch

You need to assess the size of the strike plate found inside door frame and the size of the faceplate found inside the door. Note that your door is morticed to match the previous latch. If a new latch is needed you need to choose a similar size or a larger one to hide the cut-out sections.

 

Backset Measurements

If you are installing a new latch or mortice, you need to consider the back set measurement of the locks and latches on the current doors. It refers to the distance from the center of the spindle hole to the edge of the door. It’s very easy to install a latch or lock in the same size already fitted to avoid more work.

 

The Spindle Size

Are you fitting new door handles with the old latches and locks? You need to consider the thickness of the spindles in the place. Don’t forget to check the width of the spindle hole in the lock or latch. That way, you are sure that the new handles will fit in perfectly.

 

Replacing your door handles doesn’t need to be a tough task. Take the right measurements and heck to ensure that all the existing features of the older door handles are utilized accordingly. Otherwise, you will be forced to spend more money to replace every feature in the door handles which can be quite costly.
