Townhouse Patio Ideas

Being a recent college graduate myself, I have lived the past 5 years without my own outdoor space. I am now blessed with outdoor patio space and have the financial ability to furnish it because I was a financially frugal student.

Spending the evenings outdoors is what summer nights are made for, and the patio is a necessity. Summer is the time of barbecue parties and having fun, so if you want to create a summer space in your yard, here are a couple of tips on how to do it without creating a huge hole in your pocket.

Visit the thrift stores

You would be surprised at what you can find at thrift stores. If you are giving your patio a makeover on a limited budget, thrift stores will become your best friend. Whether you are searching for furniture or decor, you will definitely find it.

Think about how you want your patio to look and search for the appropriate furniture. For example, if you want to add a splash of vintage look and feel, you do not need to have matching chairs. A colorful patio is what gives life to the place. Not everything needs to match.

DIYs are life-savers

There are so many DIY ideas online on patio decor. If you cannot find the right furniture you want, you can build it yourself. Building material is much cheaper than buying the furniture in the store, so making your furniture will not end up being a huge investment. The building part is also gratifying because you will feel accomplished after putting together the entire patio that is the product of your own work.

And not to mention how flexible it is. You can literally build anything you imagine if you are creative enough to do a bit of problem-solving. But if you do not have any ideas, you can always look for inspiration online and take bits and pieces until you create something unique, and somewhere you will enjoy spending countless hours.

Go for natural decor

Rustic patios look the best because it becomes just the extension of your backyards, while a more modern patio can look like something that just does not belong there. If you want to make your patio look natural, adding appropriate decor can add a bit of personality. For example, the wooden decor is perfect for patios, as well as other organic objects. If you want to make your patio unique, you can do that with the items you choose to put there. For example, handcrafted animal skulls are guaranteed to add some authenticity to your decor. Add lights

If you want to create a beautiful atmosphere on warm summer nights, lighting is the best way to go. Decorate with fairy lights, candles, or even a small fire pit, and you will immediately notice how warmer and cozier the place looks.

If you want to extend the experience to the rest of your backyard, you can even decorate the trees with fairy lights and get a really cool effect for your summer party.

Plant flowers everywhere

Depending on the look you are going for, you can plant different plants all around your patio. But you should not stop there. Add vases and pots with flowers on the ground or even add hanging vines and flower pots to your patio's roof. Together with the lighting, plants can create a really magical experience for everyone. It will feel as if you are in a beautiful fairytale.

Color is the key (My favorite of the Townhouse Patio Ideas)

As we have mentioned before, color can really breathe life in your patio, so do not be afraid to experiment with different palettes or even the entire rainbow.

You can add bold accents to your furniture or create a natural color palette to blend with the environment.

Even with a limited budget with a bit of creativity, you can create a patio you have always wanted. If you want your patio to feel unique, adding the decor is the best way to express your personality through the little summer paradise you want to make.
