When people first think of Whistler, they immediately think of skiing and the great resorts the area offers. If you ever close on one of the Whistler homes for sale, this is probably what you’re going to expect at first as well. However, there are also a lot of trips that you can take from Whistler, some relating to skiing and some completely separate. With so much to do in such a small area, it may be tough narrowing down what attraction you should visit. However, there are some places in the Whistler area that you absolutely need to check out. So what are these amazing locations? Here are four day trips that you can take around Whistler.

Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre

If you ever tire of skiing and other outdoor activities while in Whistler, there are several other attractions that you can visit. One of the best options is the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, a place that is likely only a short trip away from your Whistler lodgings. Here you can find amazing exhibits dedicated to the Squamish and Lil’wat indigenous nations. These exhibits are intended to honor indigenous people's history and culture, showing their importance in shaping the Whistler area. On top of the exhibits, the attraction also has a wide variety of events like lectures, workshops, and presentations highlighting aspects of indigenous cultures and their importance.

Whistler Olympic Park

Perhaps Whistler’s biggest claim to fame is the Whistler Olympic Park. Back in 2010, the Olympic Winter Games were held in Whistler, and many of the competition’s events were held in Whistler Olympic Park. As a result, the area has lots of importance behind it, making it a quality attraction just from that alone. However, the park now offers a wide variety of snow activities for visitors, ranging from skiing to snowshoeing. Whistler Olympic Park is also great for outdoor enthusiasts of all experience levels, as you can hit the professional slopes alone or set up a time slot to receive lessons. If you’re in Whistler and are looking for some outdoor fun, then you definitely should visit this historic venue.

Rainbow Mountain

Another great outdoor destination that you can visit in the Whistler area is Rainbow Mountain. Rather than serving as a major ski slope like some of the other outdoor attractions in the area, Rainbow Mountain is primarily a hiking and snowshoeing destination. The mountain gets its name from the rainbow of colors that one can see from its location. Rainbow Mountain is consistently ranked as one of the country’s best hiking destinations offering up stellar views to guests. If you’re looking for some breathtaking outdoor activity in Whistler, then you should check out Rainbow Mountain.

Garibaldi Provincial Park

A very underrated attraction in the Whistler area is the Garibaldi Provincial Park. The wilderness area covers hundreds of square miles, providing plenty of space for outdoor recreation. Garibaldi Provincial Park is known for its great hiking trails and its amazing campgrounds. Trails like Panorama Ridge and Black Tusk Trail are legendary in the local community and serve up some breathtaking views. In addition, thousands of campers flock to the area every single year to soak in all of its beauty. If you want to take a day trip to an amazing outdoor area in Whistler, Garibaldi Provincial Park needs to be on your list.
