January 30, 2021

Choosing the right spa equipment, such as facial beds for your wellness center can be a problem, especially if you don’t know where to start. You have so many options, and there are so many factors you need to take into consideration before you could make a sound decision. You need to ask yourself several questions to help you decide. Who will be using the facial bed? What will the facial bed be used for?

If you’re struggling to find the right facial bed for your wellness center, then you’ve come to the right place. To help you choose among the wide variety of facial beds out there, we’ll discuss 5 key tips that should serve as your guide.

Tips to consider when choosing the right spa equipment

The spa equipment in your wellness center can affect your customers’ experience. Therefore, it’s only important that you invest in the right facial beds. To do so, you need to consider the bed’s comfort, design, function, quality, and size.

Comfort

The importance of comfort cannot be understated, especially in the spa and wellness industry. Your customers will sit or lay down for long periods, so their heads and bodies must be relaxed. You can assess the comfort level of the facial bed, depending on the thickness and the material of the mattress. A lot of facial beds in the market are usually made out of foam, and its quality doesn’t depend on the thickness, but on its density. This means that the denser the foam, the more durable and comfortable it is for use.

You can check the density of the foam by pressing your hand into the mattress. And then, see how long it will take for it to return to its original shape. If it returns slower, then the density is lower. As far as the thickness is concerned, 2 inches of high-density foam should be able to provide an adequate level of comfort.

Look for a facial bed with high-quality foam – these beds will fit your customers snuggly. You can keep them in position while the practitioner is taking care of them.

Design

You can never deny how important design is when it comes to choosing the perfect facial bed for your wellness center. You have the option to choose from classic neutral color tones to modern electric colors. After all, if you have a coherent and unique aesthetic, then you could float above your competition. With this, you’re not only making it easy for your customers to identify your brand. You’re also making the space feel and look more exclusive and luxurious.

When choosing the design, it’s important to have the final say in how you want the facial beds to look like. The colors, materials, and finishes should be available for personalization to make them a part of your brand.

Function

When choosing a facial bed, the most crucial question you should ask yourself is what it will be used for. For this reason, you have to make a list of all the different treatments that will require the facial bed, and choose a chair that can adapt to most, if not all of them.

Depending on the treatments you offer in your wellness center, you might need more than one type of facial bed. If you can find a facial bed that can serve a variety of uses, then that’s great. After all, facial beds should be adaptable and serve multiple functions.

Size

Another thing you will need to consider is the size of your facility. After all, the space you have available will be the defining factor for the size of your spa equipment, such as a facial bed. A facial bed that’s too big will only make it difficult for your staff to move around and work effectively if the space is too small.

It must fit into the treatment room with enough space that allows the practitioner to maneuver around the bed. So, if you take into consideration the limitations of the space in your wellness center, here are a few tips to help you choose the right size:

  1. Height – The height of the bed is determined by your personal preference, as well as the ergonomics of the practitioner who will be working there. It is also determined by the type of treatments you offer. Since the height of most facial beds can be adapted, you most likely have a range of motion of around 10 inches.
  2. Length – The length of the facial bed depends on the type of client you usually have. For you to be sure that you can accommodate the highest number of customers per day, you might want to consider the longest bed that can fit in your facility. The average facial bed ranges from 5’9 to 6’3, although the most common length is 5’9. If you’re still struggling with the length, then you should pick a facial bed with a headrest. Most of them have some mobility, so it can give you a buffer of 7 to 11 inches.
  3. Width – The average width of a facial bed is 27 to 30 inches. You need to remember that the wider the bed is, the more comfortable it is for your clients. But then again, as with the height, and less so for the length. The width of the facial bed is most likely going to depend on the size of the practitioner. If the facial bed is too wide, then it can cause discomfort and back problems to the practitioner, due to overexertion.

Quality

The quality of the facial bed you’re going to choose determines in what shape and how long it will last. Higher quality materials always lead to longer shelf life and less upkeep for your facial bed. High-quality facial beds shouldn’t have any issues, especially in the first 5 years of use.

Make sure the facial beds you choose are of high quality. And if the manufacturer offers warranties, then that’s even better.
