Conrad Aiken House: The Georgia Estate

September 10, 2021

Introduction

Conrad Aiken was an American writer and poet honored with the Pulitzer Prize. Furthermore, he was the United State Poet Laureate from 1950-1952. Also, he published a wide variety of works from short stories, novels, literary criticism, an autobiography and even a play. Early in his career, Aiken was known for his symbolic writings. Furthermore, he suffered from trauma at an early age and some of his works reflected upon that. At just 11 years old he found his parents dead after he heard his father shoot his mother and then himself. Finally, there are so many great literary works that we are so lucky to have because of this wonderful man! Check out the Conrad Aiken house below.

The house has five bedrooms and five bathrooms over 3,900 square feet of space. 1855 was the year of construciton. Also the backyard overlooks a colonial cemetery which to me is a bit creepy but at least it is pretty. Additionally the rooms inside feel a bit cramped for today's standards. Lastly, the current owners really made the spaces work with the right type of furniture.

Savannah Georgia is a historic city located on the East Coast. Furthermore, it is separated by South Carolina by the Savannah River. Also, it is known for its cobblestone roads and historic charm. Lastly, the population is around 150,000 people.
