November 21, 2021

Jackie Gleason was an American actor, comedian, and writer. Born in Brooklyn in 1916, he developed a style of characters influenced by his Brooklyn roots. He was legendary for his brash sense of humor. At 24 years old, he started appearing in movies such as Navy Blues, All Through the Night, and Orchestra Wives. Additionally, Gleason got his big break when he landed the role of Chester A. Riley in the television show, The Life of Riley. In 1952 he starred in his own comedy show, The Jackie Gleason Show on CBS. Furthermore, Gleason was said to have a photographic memory, which caused him to hate having to rehearse. He claimed he just needed to read a script once, and he would have it memorized. His final role was in 1986, starring alongside Tom Hanks in the critically acclaimed movie Nothing in Common.  Check out the Jackie Gleason house below.

The house has six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms over 4,123 square feet of space. This custom-built home is affectionately referred to as Glea Manor. The inside features a natural aviary which allows for light to free flow throughout. This unique and beautiful home sits on a peaceful lake, allowing for serene views in all rooms. Glea Manor is perfect for entertaining guests, including a billiards room, entertainment room, and sauna. Additionally, Glea Manor is located in the town of Lauderhill, Florida. Lauderhill is a part of Broward County and a principal city in the Miami metropolitan area. Furthermore, Lauderhill was almost named Sunnydale by the developer Herbert Sadkin. It wasn’t until a friend of Sadkin’s encouraged him to change it at the last minute, not liking the way Sunnydale sounded.
