The Sorrel Weed House is a historic landmark and Savannah Museum. Also known as the Francis Sorrel House, it was the boyhood home of Brigadier General Moxley Sorrel. Moxley was a Confederate soldier during the Civil War. Moxley’s wealthy father, Francis Sorrel, had the house built. Francis was a shipping merchant and esteemed citizen of Savannah. Furthermore, there is a haunting reputation belonging to the house. Francis’s wife Matilda committed suicide inside the home. Additionally, TV shows such as Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, as well as the Travel Channel’s The Most Terrifying Places in America, have featured the house.
