John Adams was an American Founding Father and president. He was born in Braintree, MA, on October 30, 1735. Additionally, he attended Harvard College in 1751. There he studied the works of ancient writers such as Thucydides, Plato, Cicero, and Tacitus. After graduation, he became a teacher in Worcester, MA. Furthermore, after teaching for a few years, he decided to become a lawyer. On October 25, 1764, he married his wife Abigail. Additionally, the couple had six children. One of which, would also become future president, John Quincy Adams. Adams rose to prominence leading widespread opposition to the Stamp Act of 1765. He became the Country’s first vice president, under George Washington, in 1789. Furthermore, Adams was sworn into office as the nation's second president on March 4, 1797.
