Lucille Ball was an American actress, comedian, and producer. She was born in Jamestown, NY on August 6th, 1911. In the 1930s and 1940s, she started appearing in films as a contract player for RKO Radio Pictures. Furthermore, during this time she met Cuban bandleader Desi Arnaz. In November 1940 the couple eloped. In 1951 they created and starred in the sitcom I Love Lucy. Furthermore, the couple had two children before divorcing in 1961. Ball then went on to marry comedian, Gary Morton. In 1962, Ball became the first woman to run a major television studio, Desilu Productions. The company produced many popular television shows, including Mission: Impossible and Star Trek. Sadly on April 18, 1989, Ball passed away from a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm.
