The world is getting more interconnected as we speak. As such, the amount of language we use in our everyday lives is getting mixed up. While each group of people speak their own language, there are still barriers we need to address. Fortunately, we have the technology for it. Translation can be done to bridge that gap.

This is an act of translating words of text from one language to another. It can be applied to audio, video, and of course, text. You can even do this to your nearby neighbor.

For the Philippines, there are more than 180 languages spoken in the country. Translating all of them is a big task on its own. This article will take a look at the benefits of Philippine language translation.

Knowledge of New Words

There will be new words that you will learn in the process. Some of them you might have already learned from your loved ones. Learning new words is the first benefit you get to know more about the language. It can take time, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Some words have no direct translation to languages like English. Context matters at times. With an expert of the subject, Philippine language translation will make the word more known. The more knowledge you gain, you can have a wider vocabulary. This can make you look approachable to more people who only have limited knowledge of one language.

Boosting Awareness of Local Languages

Once you get to know the basics of the language, you will be aware of its existence.

These languages form the backbone of any community. It includes slang, idioms, jargon, and figures of speech. Local languages are going through a struggle of speaking their own language spoken in their own communities. Exerting the effort, languages must be preserved in any way possible.

Protecting One’s Local Heritage through Language

One’s language is also one’s identity.

The Philippines is a melting pot of various languages. However, accessibility to such language is another factor to consider. This can be due to the way how the specific language is used. Not all places speak the same language.

When people speak the language they grew up with, they can identify with their origins.

Passing Down Languages to New Generations

This is the most challenging part: teaching the language to new generations. When one is young, they can take in as much information as they can.

Each person has their own capacity to learn a new language. Filipinos are typically bilingual, sometimes a polyglot for learning a language from their relatives. Passing down one’s own language is a responsibility.

To summarize, Philippine language translation must be accessible to all. This will preserve the language in its original state, including its changes through time. In turn, people can pass down new knowledge to those who want to learn more. Understand that each person has a limit when learning languages.
