She was born in Los Angeles in the Tarzana neighborhood to a white Jewish mother and Zulu father. Her mom is Deborah Sawyer, a graphic designer, and her dad is Dumisani Dlamini. Moreover, her father is a performer himself. At some point she lived with her family in Sai Anantam Ashram to practice Hinduism for four years. In addition, she is known for her wild humor.
