How To Remove Pee Smell From Mattress

The smell of urine is super disturbing and it may take a while to wear off the mattress. However, there’s still a chance you can get rid of it quickly. All you need to do is to cover your mattress with baking soda. If the smell is strong, then you can thicken the baking soda layer. Allow the soda to sit for around 10 hours or more. Once it is tried, you can vacuum it off.

Another method includes making a vinegar solution by mixing half vinegar with half water. Make sure to use cold water to make this work effectively. You may add 2-3 drops of essential oil to add fragrance to your mattress. Spray this mixture over the mattress and let it air dry completely. Next, spread baking soda over the mattress which will dry up in some time. You can clean it using a vacuum then.

Keep in mind that pet stains are strong which means you’ll need stronger chemicals and quick actions to remove the stains and the smell as well. You may use enzyme cleaners for this cause. Once is it completely cleaned, the pets will not be able to mark their territory once again.

How To Clean Pee Stains From Mattress

If you’re a bit late to wash off the bedding and already seeing stains then it means you need a more concentrated and heavier cleaning solution. Hydrogen peroxide and dish soap add up in this process.

Combine well 3 tablespoons of baking soda, together 8 ounces of hydrogen peroxide, and 2 to 4 drops of dish soap or liquid laundry detergent. Then spray this solution over the stained region. Allow the solution to set in for a few minutes. When the solution is dried, you’ll see a dried baking soda residue layer which you can vacuum off later.

Be mindful that hydrogen peroxide bleaches things, so you may first patch test and then continue if you seem it works fine.
