Who was Sylvia Likens?

Sylvia Likens was an American teenager. At 16 years old Gertrude Baniszewski murdered her. Additionally, Gertrude’s children were also involved in the murder. In 1965 Sylvia and her sister Jenny moved in with Gertrude at her parent’s request. They could not afford to care for the two young girls anymore. Their parent's worked in carnivals. Furthermore, during their stay, Sylvia was beaten and tortured. Furthermore, on October 26th, 1965 Sylvia died. Gertrude, along with two of her children, John and Paula, were arrested. They were all convicted of the murder. In 1985 Gertrude made parole. Additionally, she died in 1990. Check out the Sylvia Likens house below.

This house of horrors was located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It once sat on the corner of N. Denny St and E. New York St.  Additionally, there is a population of 864,447.

The house had two bedrooms and one bathroom over an unknown number of square feet. The home was demolished in 2009. Today it is only a gravel parking lot. Furthermore, when it was standing, it was said to have been filthy. It was also near empty. There were only three mattresses. Furthermore, there were only a few kitchen utensils. Additionally, there was a small unfinished basement. There was also an attic. The exterior of the home featured two porches.  One of the porches had concrete steps. Additionally, there was also one fireplace inside the home. Furthermore, the home included a grassy backyard. This home is really something to look at.
