How to choose your electric skateboard?

May 15, 2022

You want to treat yourself to an electric skateboard, but you don't know what criteria to focus on in order to choose it well? Here are a few tips. It's decided: in order to get to the office, or simply for leisure, you are about to fall for an electric skateboard. Except that until now you had only known the “classic” skateboard without engine, and without any other power than that of your legs. So, what should you stop to choose your new model?

First of all, on its power of course! It is the one who will define the speed you can reach. Similarly, if the climb is too difficult, this is the one that will allow you (if it is sufficient) to climb without having to stop to continue on foot.

Will it be sufficient for the trips you plan to make? And what roads do you plan to take? Whether you only drive around town or plan to use it on country roads does not imply the same model. In the latter case, it is for an all-terrain electric skateboard that you will have to opt for. Also pay attention to its weight since you will wear it just as often as a "classic" skateboard when you are not riding. Materials and finishes are obviously left to your taste, but prefer robustness, especially if you plan to use it all the time and on all types of terrain. As for the price? Also make it a selection criterion. Indeed, this can vary a lot from one model to another. And even for the same product!

It is a classic question of quickly going around the e-commerce sites to notice it. In short, do not hesitate to compare them. And take advantage of current promotions!

What rules?

We told you about it here: what is valid for scooters is just as valid for skateboards, Segways and other monowheels. In principle, all these modes of private transportation work on the same principles. If you like a certain criterion, you are more likely to like it with other modes of transportation. As simple as that.

Driving an electric skateboard therefore involves several obligations to which you You will have to submit to it under penalty of heavy fines. The user must be over 12 years old, be alone on the skateboard, and not ride on the sidewalks but on the cycle paths (if there are any), or – if applicable – on the roads. At least on those where the maximum authorized speed is 50 km/hour. It can also circulate on pedestrian areas, but on condition that it does not exceed 6 km/hour and does not interfere with pedestrians. As far as wearing a helmet is concerned, it is strongly recommended, but it is not imposed in town, but it becomes compulsory outside built-up areas. Finally, it goes without saying: total ban on riding with headphones in your ears! Was this post useful? We hope so!
