Whether you’re building a home or doing renovations, making changes to your master bathroom is an excellent way to make life in your home more enjoyable. The master bathroom is where you begin and end your day. It is where you get ready for work and clean up after a long day, so you want it to be functional and beautiful.
When you’re designing your master bathroom, several must-have elements will take it from just being a bathroom to a place you feel relaxed. You often share this space with your spouse and sometimes your children, so making choices that reflect this will help you better enjoy it.
Double Sinks
When you and your partner are getting ready to leave the house, having one sink and one mirror can leave you waiting for the other to finish. Double sinks not only make sharing the bathroom at the same time more manageable, it also gives you each your own space.
Lots of Counter and Cabinet Space
If you enjoy a lot of cosmetic products and other self-care essentials, it can be challenging to store them all in the bathroom for easy access without creating clutter. Having enough counter and cabinet space means everything can have a home, and you won’t knock bottles down every time you make a move.
Counter space is also important when establishing whose area is whose. One partner may be messier than the other, but when you have enough space to store everything, you avoid any arguments or feelings of resentment over products lying around.
A Separate Room for the Toilet
Having two rooms for the bathroom, one for the toilet and another for everything else, is common in other countries, especially European ones. In a master bathroom this offers more privacy for spouses who are sharing and maximizes space. This way, there is no question of how acceptable using the toilet while someone is brushing their teeth is. It can also make the shower and sink portion of the bathroom feel clean.
A Large Shower and/or Bathtub
If you are someone who likes to take extra long showers or to relax in a sudsy bubble bath, prioritize this element of your bathroom. Walk-in showers with a bench or shelving give you space to relax in your shower and offer a great place to store your products.
Some bathtubs are too small to relax in comfort or are not shaped in a way that is good for lying in for a long time. Choose a bathtub that will allow you to lay down surrounded by bubbles without slipping underwater. Jacuzzi bathtubs are also an excellent way to add a bit of luxury to your room.
A Warming Lamp
If you live in a colder climate, there is nothing worse than taking a nice warm shower and stepping out into the cold air of your bathroom. A warming lamp is a great way to keep you warm while you dry, so there is no harsh temperature transition.
You could also add a towel warmer to get your towel nice and toasty and elevate your shower experience every time. Check out these bath remodeling pros in Sacramento.
