5 Types of Safes for your Home

Safe House

When it comes to safes for sale, you have many options. With a history dating back thousands of years, it should come as no surprise that the range of products and solutions available has expanded over the millennia since the invention of lockable security units. Safes can be an extremely effective tool in the fight to keep your home safe and secure from criminal activity. Locking up your valuables and keeping your property secure is critical, with hundreds of thousands of homes burglarized each year and only 5% of stolen items recovered. The issue is that with so many home safe options available, how do you know which one is best for you? Fear not; that's where we're here to help. From the perfect rifle safe to a safe room, we have explored them all. However, before purchasing a safe, ensure it fits its purpose.

People buy home safes for various reasons, and understanding your motivations can assist you in selecting the best home safe for your needs and budget. For example, are you purchasing a safe to store cash and jewelry, or will larger valuables be required? If you plan to secure more oversized items, such as laptops or cameras, you should look into some of the more spacious options on the market. The last thing you want is to have your safe delivered only to discover that it does not fit what you need it to hold.

Here are what we believe to be the best five types of safe to help keep your home secure.

  1. Security Safe - Security safes are versatile and can be used to conceal various items without fear of discovery. They are typically small and can be easily hidden under or behind furniture. People use them to protect their cash, jewelry, and other valuables when they are on vacation and want to ensure that an intruder breaking into their home does not get their hands on them. Thick doors and walls, a high impact rating, and a seamless design are all essential features of security safes to ensure that they cannot be forced open.
  2. Media Safe - Media safes are intended to safeguard items such as your laptop, cash, and any essential documents your family requires. IDs, passports, birth certificates, and savings bonds should be kept in a media safe to avoid loss, damage, or theft. Because they are designed to hold papers or small electronic equipment, most of these safes are smaller than other types, making them much easier to access and move around the home without difficulty. Look for a media safe that is fire and waterproof, so you don't have to worry about papers or memory cards being damaged if the safe is stolen and thrown off the road.
  3. Deposit Safe - Deposit safes allow you to deposit money throughout the day without opening the safe. These are common in stores, and the deposit slot is designed to keep contents from being fished out. Deposit safes also lower the risk of an attack on the person depositing because they do not need to be able to open the safe.
  4. Wall Safe - This is a popular method for concealing essential documents and other valuables in the home. People use this safe to keep their valuables hidden and out of sight. Because it is attached to the studs in the wall and does not require the homeowner to stoop to use it, the wall safe is more convenient than the floor safe. In addition, it can be concreted in place for added security.
  5. Gun Safe - Although gun safes are not required by law, gun owners are legally required to keep their firearms safe from theft and misuse. Furthermore, to obtain your gun license, the police will inspect your property and your gun storage arrangement. Therefore, your license will most likely be denied if you do not have the proper gun safety. As a result, any family that owns a gun must have a safe place, also known as a gun safe, to store their firearms and keep them out of the hands of unauthorized people, such as children in the house or burglars breaking in.
