Zahara Jolie-Pitt Dorm: Spelman College

August 27, 2022

Zahara Jolie-Pitt is the eldest daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Zahara was born in Ethiopia in 2005 and adopted by Angelina Jolie. Her parents also have five other children: Maddox (born 2001), Pax (born 2003), Shiloh (born 2006), twins Knox and Vivienne Marcheline (born 2008). This year, Zahara Jolie-Pitt will attend Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. The campus is on a hilltop in Southwest Atlanta, with views of the city's downtown skyline.

The classes are small, so students get to know their professors well, especially when they need assistance, for example, communication when submitting their homework or getting online homework help from Schoolworkhelper. Furthermore, they have no fraternities here but instead have sororities that do a lot of community service work like Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels programs.

It's important to pick the right college if you want to have a fantastic educational experience and study human rights, law, or politics, just like it's crucial to choose the best custom writing service. Spelman College in Atlanta also has one of the best dorms in the country. Let's dive into all there is to know about Zahara Jolie-Pitt’s new school.

What is Spelman College Known for?

Spelman College is an all-women's liberal arts college located in Atlanta, Georgia. It was founded in 1881 by Harriet E. Giles and Sophia B. Packard. This small but cozy campus has a great program for women's rights advocacy and is one of the country's oldest HBCUs or Historically Black Colleges or Universities.

Its curriculum focuses on the humanities (English and history, for example) and math and science. Students at Spelman College earn their Bachelor's degrees in just four years, at the end of which they are eligible to continue their studies at a higher level at institutions such as medical or law schools.

The most famous alumna is Maya Angelou, who graduated from Spelman with a bachelor's degree in English literature. She published her first book while attending Spelman and several others after graduating from the school.

Other notable alums include:

  • Maynard Jackson—the first African American mayor of Atlanta (1974-1982)
  • Shirley Chisholm—first African American woman elected to Congress (1968)
  • Joycelyn Elders—first African American Surgeon General (1993-1994)

Today, it has a student body of just under 2,000 students from nearly 60 countries around the world who come together as one diverse community united in their commitment to advancing social justice through education and service leadership programs that prepare them for lives dedicated not only to making change happen here but also around our globe as well.

It's also important for students here to understand how much each professor cares about their education. With smaller classes come better relationships between teachers and students — and the ability for teachers/ instructors at this college to have time spent mentoring each other outside of work hours. You won't most likely ever require the assistance of a third party. If this is the case, however, keep in mind that if you have been assigned a sizable writing project, it is critical that the custom writing service you choose to assist you is legit and reputable.

Some classes have smaller class sizes than others (for example, psychology has about 60 students per section); other subjects are bigger (like English or biology). In general, however, this school has an intimate feeling where everyone seems like they're family.

Other facts about Spelman College:

  • The campus is small but super cozy, with many cute places to study outdoors during warm weather.
  • There are plenty of spots to relax, meet up with friends and grab a coffee in between classes.
  • With its covered walkways, cozy quads, and beautiful grounds, the campus is one of the most beautiful places in America.

Housing and Residential life

Spelman College offers a variety of housing options for students. The college offers eleven residence halls, including:

● Stewart Living & Learning Center (LLC I)

The Donald and Isabel Stewart Living-Learning Center was named after Spelman's sixth president and his wife when it debuted in 1983. LLC I is the only residential hall that accommodates both first-year and upperclass students.

● Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Hall

The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Hall, which houses 127 people, was erected in 1952 with funds donated by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. The building is named after his wife, philanthropist and arts supporter Abby Aldrich. Abby Hall was renovated in 2017 with new paint, flooring, kitchen appliances, computer lab, lounge, and restrooms.

● MacVicar Hall

This building is presently closed for the school year 2022-2023.

● Dorothy Shepard Manley Hall

Dorothy Shepard Manley Hall was established in 1964 to commemorate Dorothy Shepherd Manley, wife of the College's fifth president, for her aid in selecting the furnishing and décor for the first-year residential hall. Manley Hall holds 131 students and contains single, double, triple, and quad occupancy rooms which let members build a feeling of community as well as begin lifetime connections.

● Howard-Harreld Hall

Founded in 1968, Howard-Harreld Hall (HH) is home to 184 freshmen and is named after Clara Howard, a member of the first graduating class from Spelman High School, and Claudia Harreld, a member of the first graduating class from Spelman College. On the Spelman College campus, "HH" is the largest first-year dorm.

● Morehouse-James Hall

Morehouse-James Hall was originally called Morehouse North and South. It was rebuilt and renamed in 1974 to honor Henry L. Morehouse, the first president of Spelman's Board of Trustees, and Willis Laurence James, a music professor, musicologist, and composer. The initial campus expansion included this housing hall. Morehouse-James is a first-year dorm featuring a porch and rocking chairs.

● Johnetta Betsch Cole Living-Learning Center II (LLC II)

The Johnetta Betsch Cole Living-Learning Center II is named after a successful Spelman president. She assisted Spelman College during a difficult financial period, and the institution dedicated a resident hall after her as a thank you. This residence hall has rooms for 201 students and is also home to the Office of Housing and Residence Life.

● Bessie Strong Hall

Bessie Strong Hall may look familiar to you from the TV show "A Different World." Bessie Strong Hall was built in 1917 and was named after the oldest daughter of John D. Rockefeller. Ten students who are part of this living and learning community live in the residence hall, which has key-card entry, meditation and meeting rooms, laundry, and study/TV lounges.

● Laura Spelman Rockefeller Memorial Hall

When it was first built in 1918, Laura Spelman Rockefeller Memorial Hall was used to house the Home Economics Department. As a way to honor his wife Laura, John D. Rockefeller gave the money for the building and its equipment. In 2012, the Laura Spelman Residence Hall reopened with new improvements after a full renovation.

● Beverly Daniel Tatum Suites

The Suites has always provided students with the chance to enjoy apartment-style living in the newest residential hall. The Suites residence hall opened in 2008 and can accommodate 303 students in rooms ranging in size from two bedrooms with one bathroom to three bedrooms with two bathrooms to four bedrooms with two baths.

● Sally Sage McAlpin Hall

Sally Sage McAlpin Hall was constructed in 1973. The residential hall was named after the chairperson of the Board of Trustees at the time. McAlpin offers 70 single rooms and 23 double rooms with privacy walls. Residents may adjust the personal cooling system in each room.

Every hall is designed to foster multicultural interactions between students from different countries worldwide. Furthermore, the halls have the students' comfort in mind with amenities such as study rooms, ethernet connection, and TV.

The cost of a student's dorm room depends on the room type they are given. There are a variety of room kinds, including:

  • Traditional dorm room with a single bed
  • Individual bed in a dorm-style shared room (double, triple, quad or supplemental housing)
  • Separate sleeping areas in suites for 2, 3, and 4 people share a bathroom, living room, and kitchenette.

In terms of student satisfaction, the Wall Street Journal ranked the College third in the country.

Why Zahara chose Spelman College

Zahara chose Spelman College because she wanted to be in a small, safe environment. She desired to be in a place with a good reputation where she could focus on her studies. She had known for some time that she would attend Spelman College. Zahara is interested in studying sociology but is also considering other majors such as psychology and political science.

These days, celebrity kids are usually either fed to the paparazzi or raised by the spotlight. It's heartening to see that Zahara Jolie-Pitt is instead growing up in relative privacy, surrounded by her close-knit family and friends on a safe, progressive campus like Spelman.
