First, the origin of his professional name came about in High School with his first band called the Iguanas. The pop part of Iggy Pop was inspired by his physical similarities to Jimmy Pop. So hence the name Iggy Pop. Iggy Pop became famous because of his magnetic and influential stage persona. He was also a talented instrumentalist. In addition, he played the guitar, drums, and piano. Additionally, he is the "Godfather of Pop". During the 1960s he took the stage as a vocalist and lyricist for the famous rock band, The Stooges.
