Wickenburg Is A Small Town Escape

When looking for homes for sale in wickenburg az, then you’re definitely looking for a place that is a true escape from the high-speed hustle and bustle of the modern world. Wickenburg has Western roots and traditions as the town’s foundation, providing the comfort of the West that most people are looking for. There is a rich history of museums, such as the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, which can be a great first-start to immersing yourself into the community.

The town is also rich with historical sites and local celebrations that are the highlight of the town’s existence. And because there’s also some kind of celebration going on, you’ll never be bored.

The Rich History Of Wickenburg

Wickenburg goes back as far as 1862, during the height of the gold rush. Traffic throughout the West flooded the trails of Oregon and Santa Fe, and amongst the traffic was an Austrian man named Henry Wickenburg. He found gold in the Vulture Mine, and settled nearby to establish a town with other miners as well as a number of ranchers. It grew from there, though the town wasn’t without its incidents. The largest disaster came in the form of a dam break, where many were killed or went missing.

However, the people of the town persevered and thrived, especially when the railroad came through the town in 1895. That made it much easier for tourism to blossom.

The Influence of Tourism

With the advent of new tourists, the towns in the area started to develop into guest ranches, also known as dude ranches. They operated as tourism traps, where those from the East coast could stay in the accommodations and engage in the history of the West. These ranches grew larger and larger with the construction of Highway 60; many of these tourists continued to pass through, while others chose to stay and establish Wickenburg as their new home. Eventually, these dude ranches were transformed into resort-style communities throughout Arizona so that their guests could be more comfortable.

The Old West is still a part of modern-day life in Wickenburg, Arizona, blended together with modern culture as well. It’s not all about carts and horses; there are plenty of electric car charging stations established around the town too to demonstrate that the people of the town are still forward-thinking despite the old-school, traditional values. So if this is the kind of flavor you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to contact your nearest real estate agent today to help you find your next home.
