Charles Simonyi is a software architect. He was born in Hungary, and moved to Denmark when he was 17 years old. Furthermore, in 1968 he moved to the United States to attend the University of California, Berkeley. There he earned a BS in Engineering Mathematics & Statistics. Additionally, in 1981 he started working with Bill Gates at Microsoft. There he built the organization and applications of Word and Excel. During his time at Microsoft, he became one of the highest ranking developers. In 2002 he left and co-founded Intentional Software.
