It seems everyone is coming to Nashville, whether for a wild bachelorette party, quick vaca, or to find a peaceful home away from the city center. It's understandable. There's so much to do in Nashville: live music, world-famous chefs, professional sports, and shopping. It's a great place to visit but also a wonderful place to live. Residents of Tennessee enjoy low property taxes and no state income tax, which makes it an attractive home for both average joes and celebrities. Read on to find out some of the famous people who call Nashville and surrounding areas home.
Miley Cyrus | Franklin
It should come as no surprise that Miley Cyrus lives part-time in Nashville, or, rather, Franklin, a small town in Williamson County just outside the city where it's peaceful, quiet, and stunning. Williamson County is where Miley grew up, and it's where she works today, so it's the ideal spot for her to settle down when visiting Nashville.
Cyrus can happily enjoy all Nashville offers from her Williamson County pad. When she's ready for rest, it's provided by her multi-million dollar rural estate. Her estate was purchased in 2017 for $5,800,000 and offers almost 7,000 square feet of living space. It has 5 bedrooms and sits on 33 acres.
Miley's house is found at the end of a cul-de-sac, and although it could be described as a farmhouse, it's a lot more than that when you look into what the home provides. Indoor amenities include an in-ground swimming pool, elevator, and wood-burning fireplaces. And while the home is massive—for reference, the living room is over 30 feet long—if she finds there just isn't enough room for everyone, the property also hosts a barn-style guesthouse.

Taylor Swift | Forest Hills, TN
Although not a native of Nashville, Swift is as close to that as she can be since she moved to the city when she was 14 after completely falling in love with everything Nashville offers. Now, the star owns multiple homes in Nashville and likely uses a 5,600-square-foot condo as her primary Nashville pad. Today, we're going to talk about a different Swift property: a historical stunner in an area known as Forest Hills.
Swift's Forest Hills property was once owned by Guilford Dudley Jr, who made his money in insurance in the 1930s – he even went on to become the US ambassador to Denmark. Although not a new home, Taylor Swift has updated it to look and feel modern and in line with her personal style.
The charmingly historic Greek revival estate reflects the architectural history of West Nashville, an area known as the "Athens of the South." This nickname was given not just for architectural reasons but also because of the number of higher education institutes in the vicinity. Forest Hills is a quiet and peaceful area from which Taylor can swiftly make her way to several college campuses to enjoy the hustle and bustle of student life.
Swift's Forest Hills home is 5,600 square feet. The property has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. It offers quality often not found in new builds with stunning features like vaulted ceilings, herringbone floors, and marble fireplaces. Swift purchased the property for $2.5 million in 2011. With Nashville's recent explosion in home values, the property is worth closer to $5 million.
Reese Witherspoon | Oak Hill
You might not be surprised, considering the roles Reese Witherspoon has played and the characters she has taken on, to find that she was raised in Nashville (although she was born in New Orleans). Though Nashville is not Witherspoon's primary home, she spends a fair amount of time in the city. Nashville is home to most of Witherspoon's family, including her parents. She also owns a clothing store in Nashville's 12 South district called Draper James. The trendy Nashville neighborhood is ripe with high-end stores, coffee shops, and restaurants. In fact, if you want to catch a glimpse of Witherspoon, hanging out in 12 South is your best bet.
As far as Nashville residences, Witherspoon has renovated and flipped several in the Nashville area. This year, she purchased three homes in the Nashville area. She also recently renovated and sold a historic home in the affluent area of Belle Meade for $7.4 million.
Though Witherspoon seems to be a bit fickle about her homes, this home, located in Oak Hill, has been a constant in her portfolio. The home, purchased in 2014, is not far from the Forest Hill area Swift calls home.
The Oak Hill property was built in the 1930s and comes with 6.5 acres of land, providing plenty of opportunities for reprieve, including a lovely, babbling brook that runs through the property.
When Witherspoon acquired the home, it was badly outdated and needed a lot of TLC, but she's brought it back to life. While the best way to estimate the home's current value is by seeing it, we estimate its value without seeing it at around $5 million.
Dolly Parton | Brentwood
How could we possibly write a list of the best houses owned by celebrities in Nashville and not mention the ultimate Nashville star, Dolly Parton herself? As you might expect, Dolly's home is quirky and comfortable. Although you'll easily be able to spot it as you drive by, thanks to the enormous wrought iron gates, it's very difficult to access the property. The protective gates and the long driveway behind them equal privacy for Tennessee's beloved Dolly.
Dolly Parton has lived in the same home since 1990 when she bought the place for $400,000. Since then, she and her husband have put a lot of love and money into place, including adding outbuildings and structures to the land, including a tennis court.
Dolly's Williamson County home sits in what has become one of the most expensive residential areas in greater Nashville. In fact, it sits near a community called The Governor's Club, a gated enclave that is home to many celebrities. One famous former resident of The Governor's Club? Carrie Underwood.
Can you imagine running into Carrie and Dolly at the grocery store? That very question led us to Williamson County REALTOR, Noelle Tabor. When it comes to brushing elbows with celebrities, Noelle says, "Celebrity status in Nashville is no big deal. We see celebrities in the grocery store, at church, at PTO meetings, and everywhere in between. At that point, they are no longer "celebrities," they are our neighbors who happen to have really cool jobs."
