3 Important Tips to Clean Your Rugs Safely

February 2, 2023

There are many reasons why you should clean your rugs. Some people like to keep their rugs clean, for example, because it makes their house look more attractive. Others do it because they want to preserve their investment. Still others may just want to make sure that there are no stains or spills that can ruin the appearance of their carpeting.

1. Use a vacuum with a brush attachment

When cleaning rugs, there are two things that you need to keep in mind: the first is how much dust and dirt you're removing, and the second is how much water is going into your rug fibers. To get rid of as much dirt as possible, use a vacuum with a brush attachment that has soft bristles on it. This will help remove any dirt or dust particles from your rug so they don't end up being tracked into other parts of your home.Don't use solvents or chemicals on them unless you know what they are and why they're used.If you have pets, and before you shop for Moroccan rugs online, make sure they're not allowed on the rug when you're cleaning it!

Use a broom to remove dirt and debris from corners and between the fibers of your rug. If you want to get rid of pet urine stains, then you can use baking soda mixed with either vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. You need to mix them together thoroughly so that they form a paste then rub it onto the stain until it disappears completely. After that, wipe off any remaining paste with a cloth dampened with cold water or vinegar for better results.

2. Detergent

Apply a mild detergent with water to wash the rug. This will also help to remove any dirt and dust from the rug and soften it up so that it can be washed properly in the washing machine.Use a dryer on low heat setting for about 15 minutes with no clothes or clothes that don't need drying — like towels, blankets or comforters — on it while the dryer is running. When cleaning a rug, always use lukewarm water, not hot water. Hot water can damage wool and other delicate materials, so put your rugs in a bucket or bathtub filled with lukewarm water.

When cleaning spots or stains on your rug, always use a sponge instead of a brush directly on top of them because they may not have been properly prepped with an appropriate cleaner before you started working on them!

3. Say No to bleach

Never use bleach or ammonia-based cleaners on wool rugs; they will leave a residue that may discolor the rug over time. Instead, use detergent and water to remove dirt from the rug surface and rinse it off before using an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle or OxiClean™ for stain removal.

Blotting up spills as soon as possible is an important step in keeping your rug looking good for years to come! If you spill something on your rug, simply blot it up with paper towels or disposable rags until it's dry!

Don't use any kind of abrasive material on them because it will damage the fibers and cause further wear, especially over time.
