things to do in vacaville

If you're visiting Vacaville, there are plenty of fun things to do that'll keep you busy all day long. From museums to restaurants, a visit to this Northern California town is sure to leave you with lasting memories.

The city offers numerous attractions, including amusement parks, escape rooms, hiking trails, farmers markets, delicious food, handcrafted items, antiques and collectibles, scenic views, nut trees, and redwoods. It's the perfect place to spend a vacation with your family.

1. Visit the Vacaville Museum

The Vacaville Museum, located in one of Solano County's oldest neighborhoods, is an interesting place to learn about the history of the area. Its exhibits are created by passionate volunteers and they're sure to teach you a thing or two about the local culture.

Founded in 1981, the Vacaville Museum is the only institution whose mission is to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of all Solano County residents. Its interpretive exhibits and associated programs benefit local residents as well as visitors from all over the state.

The museum is part of the Solano County Museum Consortium, a group of museums that work together to promote their collective efforts. Their latest exhibit, Solano Skies: A History of Aviation in Solano County, focuses on the role aviation played in the city and county.

2. Visit AI Patch Park

AI Patch Park is a sports and recreational facility that is packed with the latest and greatest. The aforementioned lighted phallic shaped tee and baseball field might be the most popular but there is also a well-maintained running track, two dog parks and a couple of picnic areas to keep you and your crew entertained for hours.

The aforementioned 4.3 mile trail that connects downtown Vacaville to the southside neighborhoods is a must visit on your list of things to do. Not only is it a sight to behold but you'll also likely see some flora and fauna that you haven't seen in your day to day life.

3. Visit Andrews Park

Vacaville is home to Andrews Park, a 17-acre area that boasts a creek, a playground, historical sites, five barbecue pits, and amenities like electrical outlets.

It also offers picnic areas and events, allowing families to spend quality time together. You can also go on a walk or hike along the trail to take in the breathtaking scenery of this park.

In addition to this, the park is home to Creekwalk Plaza, which hosts events year round. It’s a great place to enjoy a variety of music concerts and food truck-specific events.

4. Visit Vaca Valley Bingo

Vaca Valley Bingo is a fun way to pass the time with friends or family. The games are well organized and well-trained staff ensures that you have a memorable night out. This local cash-only establishment also offers some tasty eats and a few boozy beverages to keep you going.

Unlike many other casinos, the casino at Vaca Valley Bingo hasn't suffered a recent downturn, so the experience remains smooth as silk. Check out their website to find out the hours of operation and other useful information. You can also find out more about their specials and upcoming events by visiting their social media pages.

5. Visit Brenden Vacaville 16 Theatre

Brenden Vacaville 16 Theatre is a modern multiplex with THX certified digital surround sound and a large wall to wall movie screen. It is a short 19 minutes south of Davis on I 80 and right across from Vacaville Ice Sports 2 Ice Rinks.

The theater is currently open and buzzing with the return of Hollywood chums in need of a film fix. In a move that might have you swooning in the aisles, Brenden has started selling the gimmicks that make the big screen experience that much more magical. From its impressive menu of upscale treats to its social distancing-free seating, it's an entertainment mecca for locals and visitors alike.

6. Visit Savers Thrift Store

If you love finding cool and unique clothing items at low prices, then you’ll want to visit the Savers Thrift Store. It’s a great place to pick up clothes, shoes, jewelry, and household goods for a fraction of the price.

It’s also a good place to donate items. This thrift store works with local nonprofits to collect donations and then sells the goods for a profit.

However, a consumer filed a complaint with the state of Minnesota in 2013. The attorney general’s office found that Savers allegedly misrepresents how it benefits charities by paying them for a fraction of what they receive in donations.
