Salty’s Seafood & Spirits

The first of its kind in Fond du Lac, Salty’s is a must-visit for seafood aficionados. The menu boasts an extensive array of fresh seafood from the sea to the table, including a plethora of local brews and libations to boot. The ambiance is also one of a kind with a spirited and friendly service staff that will go out of their way to make your visit an enjoyable experience. The best part is the price tag, a mere $15 to be exact. The restaurant has a hefty breakfast and lunch menu, but they also feature a tasty entrée special in the evenings.

Gottfried Prairie & Arboretum

If you’re looking for an outdoor escape, consider visiting Gottfried Prairie & Arboretum, a 42-acre restored native prairie and arboretum. This natural treasure is adjacent to the UW-Fond du Lac campus.

The project began in 1991 with the goal of representing the original plant communities of Wisconsin in a small arboretum. The preserve now includes 42 acres of prairie grasses and wildflowers, two wildlife ponds and 176 native trees and shrubs.

In addition to its 42-acre prairie, the arboretum features interactive trails, monthly environmental education classes and volunteer opportunities. Residents can also take part in a variety of nature-themed events, such as hikes and snowshoeing.

Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac

The Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac is a place where discovery and curiosity are brought to life through a touchable learn-by-doing atmosphere designed to foster creativity and a passion for lifelong learning. The museum serves nearly 25,000 visitors onsite and at community events each year.

The museum offers multiple spaces for your child to play and explore their interests, from the Great Toddler Reef with hanging jellyfish and a seashell island to the shadow safari with phosphorescent vinyl that captures the light of safari animals.

Real-life learning shines here as well with career-oriented play exhibits like creating a radio broadcast, stocks trading, auto repairs, pizza-making and working on a family farm. The museum also has a firefighting station and other fun and engaging activities that bring kids to life!

Forest Mall

Forest Mall is an indoor, climate-controlled shopping center that boasts 30 plus stores. It also includes two department stores, Kohl’s and Younkers.

Forest is a popular destination for shoppers in Fond du lac, Ripon, Sheboygan and West Bend. It also offers a variety of dining options, including Panera Bread, Panda Express and Applebee’s.

The mall is located off of Interstate 41’s Johnson Street exit. It has multiple opportunities for a variety of retail establishments, from junior anchor stores between the new regional grocer and Kohl’s to larger outparcel development on Peters Avenue.

Parkway Bowling Lanes

This 16 lane establishment is fun for both the kids and adults. The drinks are on the cheap and the food is top notch. They also have the best fish fry in town. If you’re looking for a cool way to kill the evening, this is it. A nice place to unwind after a long day at the office. The staff is friendly and the drinks are on point. The best part is you don’t even have to leave the premises. if you’re lucky, you might even catch the elusive Mr. Fond du Lac!

Fat Joe’s Bar & Grill

Fat Joe’s Bar & Grill serves up fresh seafood in a classic Fond du Lac setting. This local neighborhood hangout offers live music and patio seating. The restaurant also has cheap wifi for patrons looking to work while they dine.

The business is defending itself after facing backlash for firing an employee who claims she was fired because of transphobic remarks made by patrons she served. The restaurant is still open, but its Facebook page has been taken down. The restaurant’s owners, Tad and Whitney Wallender, say they’re not letting the incident impact their day-to-day operations.

Lightsmith Art Glass

Lightsmith Art Glass has been crafting decorative glass since 1979 and offers unique gift items such as personalized wine bottles, wedding and anniversary gifts, artisan-crafted jewelry, kaleidoscopes, lighthouse gifts and stained and beveled projects. They also offer classes to teach the basics of blowing glass for those who are interested in learning the craft.

Lightsmith Art Glass is located at 262 Doty St in Fond du Lac. They are open Monday to Friday from 10am-5pm and closed on Saturdays. The shop accepts credit cards. They also have parking available.
