London, a small city in southeastern Kentucky, offers visitors a wide variety of things to do. These include hiking trails, cultural landmarks, and historical sites.

The town is surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest and Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park, which offer outdoor recreation opportunities. Laurel River Lake is also nearby and provides access to boating, fishing, and camping.

Laurel County History Museum and Genealogy Center

The Laurel County History Museum and Genealogy Center offers visitors an opportunity to learn about their family’s past. This is accomplished through a variety of exhibits and items donated by people from the area.

A local man volunteering at the center said it is very important for young people to understand the importance of their community’s history. This helps to foster a sense of pride in the area.

The Laurel County Historical Society operates the Compass Inn Museum, which is located in an old mill-worker’s home. The museum houses books, photographs, tools, personal artifacts, and other items that demonstrate the community’s history. The society also preserves the Compass Inn and other properties.

Camp Wildcat Civil War Battlefield

One of the first battles of the Civil War took place at Camp Wildcat. Today, the battlefield is a popular spot for special reenactments and visitors can gain a deeper understanding of this important moment in US history.

The battle was a victory for the Union because of timely reinforcements. Garrard had been ordered to secure a ford across the Rockcastle River and entrench his men at the Wilderness Road; however, Garrard was under-manned and needed reinforcements.

On October 21st, Brigadier General Albin Scheopf arrived with four companies of the 33rd Indiana Infantry Regiment and 250 men from the 1st Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry to defend Round Hill, a steep point along the Wilderness Road that was attacked by Zollicoffer's troops. During the skirmish, Union reinforcements forced both Confederate regiments to retreat.

Vanhook Falls

Vanhook Falls is a waterfall in the Daniel Boone National Forest that is accessible by hiking. It's part of the Sheltowee Trace trail, and it's one of the best hiking trails in Kentucky.

The Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail is a network of hiking, biking, horseback riding and running trails that runs nearly 290 miles through the Daniel Boone National Forest. It's a beautiful place to hike with its waterfalls, mountain views, lakes and other attractions.

The secluded family campground of Van Hook Glade is a great spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It offers 18 campsites, picnic tables, tent pads and grills. You'll also be close to trails and lakes that are perfect for exploring, as well as a short drive from Dry Falls and Whitewater Falls.

Tree Top Adventures

Tree Top Adventures is one of the newest attractions in London, KY. It offers a world class zipline canopy tour that features seven zip lines, a floating staircase and a floating bridge.

It is not for the faint of heart, though! We offer a safety orientation prior to each tour so you can feel confident that you are getting the best experience possible.

Besides the Treetop Adventure, London is home to several other fun things to do and see. This is especially true if you have kids, since there are plenty of fun activities for them to enjoy. Levi Jackson Wilderness Park, for example, offers everything from hiking to a mini-golf course and even a swimming pool. There are also a couple of living museums to check out.

Wood Creek Lake
