Spring is an exciting destination that is a short drive from Houston. It offers a wide range of fun activities for everyone, and it’s also home to some of the best parks in town.
One of the most popular attractions in the area is Old Town Spring, a historic district with beautiful architecture and quaint shops. There are also plenty of things to do in nearby Pundt Park, which offers outdoor sports like fishing and canoeing.
Old Town Spring
Just north of Houston and nestled in the rolling hills of Harris County, Old Town Spring is a quaint turn of the century shopping district with more than 150 specialty shops. From antiques, clothing, home furnishings and collectibles to art galleries, restaurants and a winery, this historic village offers something for everyone.
During the day, this bustling district is filled with shops and tourists. At night, however, it’s a different story.
Many of the shops in Old Town Spring have stories to tell, and they’re not all sweet and innocent. The quaint town is known as the ghost capital of Texas because of countless accounts of paranormal activity and strange happenings.
It’s also a popular haunted tour location. Nance, a member of the Woodlands Paranormal group, takes listeners on a walk to hear the hair-raising tales that have been circulating for years. Whether it’s claims of a railroad worker haunting the tracks, or the spirit of a young girl that has been seen at a local restaurant, these spooky stories will make you see Spring in a new way.

You can also take the whole family on a fun outing at Rob Fleming Aquatic Center. This water park offers splash pads, water slides, a massive dumping bucket, and much more.
If you want to stay close to the action, there are plenty of vacation rentals nearby. For example, "Beautiful Large 1 Bedroom/ 1 Bath Condo In The Woodlands" is just around a mile from Grogan’s Mill and offers guests the amenities they need for a perfect weekend.
Sports & Recreation
Spring is a wonderful place to live for people who love sports and outdoor activities. The Jones State Forest and Bay Area Coliseum District offer a variety of outdoor activities for residents, like hiking and mountain biking.
During the warmer months, visitors can enjoy outdoor events and festivals at many of our parks. These parks are also great for family fun and picnics.
Another popular activity is fishing at Pundt Park. Staff at this park will teach you how to cast a line and use your bait to catch native freshwater fish!
If you’re a dinosaur lover, check out the Jurassic Quest Dinosaur Exhibit. There are many things to do at this museum - dig for fossils, ride on the back of a T. Rex, or experience a multi-track dino bungee pull!
