Watertown is a beautiful city in the United States that offers tourists a wide variety of things to do. The city boasts refreshing green spaces, awe-inspiring works of architecture and historical attractions.

The New York State Zoo is one of the best attractions to visit in Watertown. The zoo is home to various ecosystems that are designed around native New York State wildlife.

1. New York State Zoo

If you’re a zoo lover, there are many great zoos in New York. They’re the perfect places to spend a day with your family.

The New York State Zoo is located at Thompson Park in Watertown, NY. Established in 1920, this zoo is dedicated to the preservation of the indigenous animals of New York State.

2. Sci-Tech Museum

The Sci-Tech Museum is an excellent place to visit if you want to learn more about the science behind various processes. It features hands-on exhibits that let guests become a specimen in a giant kaleidoscope, attract sparks in a plasma globe and create laser patterns.

There is also an interactive gift shop that sells a variety of science novelties and kits. The museum is free to enter and is open to all ages.

3. Black River Drive-In Theatre

During the 1950s, drive-in movies were all the rage. While many of them have since closed, several are still around in Upstate New York.

One of the more recent additions to this renaissance is the Black River Drive-In Theatre. The theater is a single screen venue that opened in August of 1950.

4. Maggie’s on the River

Located in a former warehouse with sweeping river views and outdoor seating, Maggie’s on the River is a cozy spot for a drink or meal. They offer craft drafts, cocktails & bar fare.

The menu here features classic American dishes, such as burgers, flatbreads and fried cheese curds. They also have some vegetarian options.

5. Pla-Mor Lanes

Bowling is a fun sport and a great bonding activity for family and friends. Pla-Mor Lanes in Watertown is a great place to try out your skills!

It offers a whopping sixteen lanes, and various locals host small parties here.

This library was styled after Grecian architecture and is built in 1904. It exudes the feeling of a museum with its large center rotunda and Roman-style statues.

6. Watertown Farm and Craft Market

The Watertown Farm and Craft Market is one of the area’s largest farmers markets. It features flowers, produce, food trucks, and art.

The market is held every Wednesday from late May to early October. The market is also the home of the pink taco. Besides the pink taco, the market has other cool things to see and do. It’s one of the most popular attractions in Watertown, a place where locals and tourists alike can enjoy a variety of entertainment options.

7. Escape Works

Escape Works is one of the most popular escape room centers in Watertown. They have a variety of themes to choose from such as Family Fortune, Bank Heist, The Ship, and The Safe Zone.

Located in the historic Lincoln Building, Boots Brewing Company does a fine job of telling a story with every pint they serve. The brewmasters here are steadfast in their devotion to craft brewing, giving each batch the care it deserves.

8. Dry Hill Ski Area

Dry Hill Ski Area is a small, family-friendly ski resort located in Watertown. It features a terrain park and snow tubing park, as well as night skiing.

The resort also offers lessons for those who have never tried their hand at skiing or snowboarding. They are affordable and patient enough to help you get started.

9. Waterworks Park

Waterworks Park is located on the Black River, with hiking trails, river access for canoeing and kayaking, picnic tables and parking. It is also a popular fishing spot!

The Black River Trail is a 4.5-mile paved trail that runs through the woods from Ridge Road in Watertown to near the Village of Black River. It is open dawn to dusk for walking, biking, in-line skating and snowshoeing.
