Clarence Simmons Jr, aka “Coodie”, is a director, producer, screenwriter, cinematographer, and comedian who was born on January 18, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois. He is the second of four children from parents Clarence Simmons and Wendy Simmons.
He has over 20 credits under his belt, and he is also a founder of the production company Creative Control. He has worked with A-list celebrities such as Pitbull, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Christina Aguilera.
His family encouraged his artistic side and his comedic chops, which is how he found a passion for filming and entertaining people. He initially attended Northern Illinois University to study Communications before being kicked out of school due to academic and behavioral issues.
Coodie had a strong work ethic and always wanted to make it big in the entertainment industry. His parents never hesitated to support him in whatever he chose to do.
In 1994, he co-founded Channel Zero with his friend Danny Sorge. It was a show that focused on spotlighting the up-and-coming artists of the Chicago South Side.
The duo eventually began directing music videos for Joey Badass and Kanye West. They created bonus behind-the-scenes footage for several albums and directed the documentary 'Benji' (2012).
During their time working together, Coodie and Chike realised that they had the same drive to create films, as well as the same desire to tell real stories. Their friendship and close relationship has helped them achieve their goals.
