American actor, comedian, and screenwriter David Koechner is best known for his roles as Champ Kind in Anchorman, Todd Packer on the NBC sitcom The Office, and Bob Pogo on F Is for Family. He also starred in the film Thank You for Smoking and wrote and produced a variety show pilot for NBC.
Koechner started his career as an improvisational comedy actor and studied under Del Close at the ImprovOlympic in Chicago. He later went on to star in a number of high-profile comedies such as Waiting, Out Cold, Talladega Nights, Extract, Semi-Pro, Sell Hard, and Thank You for Smoking.
His first break came in 2004 with the release of Anchorman, which earned him a lot of fame. He quickly moved from starring in comedies to more serious movies and became a star.
He has appeared in a number of movies and TV shows and has also lent his voice to several animated characters, including those for Netflix. He has also received a Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy or Musical for his role in Anchorman.
Koechner has also been a popular sports fan, cheering on his favorite teams like the Kansas City Chiefs. He is an active participant in the annual Big Slick Celebrity Weekend fundraiser that raises money for Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
Koechner has been married to Leigh Morgan since June 1998 and the couple have five children. Their names are Charlie, Margot, Sargent, Audrey, and Eve. The estranged couple have recently filed for divorce and they are set to finalize it in January 2020.
