The American singer, radio DJ and television host Michelle Visage is a well-known public figure in the LGBTQ+ community. She is also known for her work as a judge on the hit reality competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Michelle Visage was born in South Plainfield, New Jersey on September 20, 1968. She graduated from arts high school in 1986 and attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Manhattan for two years. She began her music career as a member of the dance group Seduction, who topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988 with their single “It’s Gonna Be a Lovely Day.”
Her first solo single was released in 1989. The song was a hit and reached number thirty-four on the Billboard Hot 100. She released her second single in 1990, called "Fall In Love."
After her stint with Seduction, she went on to become a television and radio personality. She hosted The RuPaul Show on VH1 as well as her morning show on WKTU in New York City.
In 2011, she became a permanent judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race replacing Merle Ginsberg and has since appeared on all four seasons of the show. She has also been a permanent judge on the spin-off show, RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
She is married to David Case, a screenwriter and author. They have two daughters together, Lola and Lillie.
