most dangerous cities in Texas

Despite its wide open spaces and southern hospitality, Texas is home to some dangerous cities. You may want to avoid them if you don’t want to become a victim of crime.

A recent study ranked the most dangerous cities in the United States by looking at violent crime rates per capita. They analyzed data on rape, robbery, aggravated assault, and murder.

Houston

Houston has a reputation for being safe, but it isn't. KHOU 11 analyzed crime data from the FBI and found that Houston is actually one of the most dangerous cities in America to live in.

In Houston, the most common crimes police responded to were simple assaults and thefts from motor vehicles. These types of crimes aren't unusual for Houston, but the numbers are still alarming.

The city's robbery rate is 233 per 100,000 people, nearly double the top cities on the list. Its murder rate is 5.9 per 100,000 people, which puts it in the top five.

Amarillo

While a high crime rate may seem scary, there are plenty of things to do in Amarillo. It is home to interesting museums, and it’s also a great place to experience the Wild West.

The best time to visit Amarillo is in summer, when temperatures are at their peak. However, it is important to know that this is a city where violent crime is a serious problem. There are parts of the city where you are at risk of getting mugged, but the tourist areas and better parts of town are pretty safe during the day.

Lubbock

Lubbock is known as the “Hub City” of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, with an incredibly diverse economy. From health care and technology to education and retail, the city’s economy is based on a variety of industries.

Despite the many positives to be found in Lubbock, it is also one of the most dangerous cities in Texas. According to a recent study by Neighborhood Scout, the city has an extremely high violent crime rate.

As with any area that is new to you, it is important to take precautions. Common sense, avoiding neighborhoods outside of the areas that you may visit, and good situational awareness will go a long way.

Beaumont

Located in Southeast Texas, Beaumont is one of the most dangerous cities in the state. It has a very high violent crime rate and property crimes.

The city also has an extremely high poverty rate and it is very difficult to find good jobs in this area.

A lot of people who live in Beaumont are struggling to make ends meet and it is very hard for them to find a good job that can support their families.

If you are looking for a good job in Beaumont there are a few options that you should consider. The first option is the oil industry. The average salary for someone working in the oil industry is about $68,000 a year.

Dallas

Dallas is one of the most dangerous cities in Texas, and it is a top priority to be extra cautious when traveling in this city. There are several neighborhoods in the city that you should avoid.

Crime rates vary from neighborhood to neighborhood, but the South Boulevard-Park Row neighborhood has the highest violent and property crime rate. Gang activity is a major factor in the high crime rate in this area, and tourists are likely to be targeted by crooks when they enter this area.

Overall, the crime rate in Dallas has increased over the past year. However, the Dallas Police Department has announced a decline in both murders and robberies as part of its Violent Crime Reduction Strategic Plan. This continues a trend that began in 2020.
