For a long time, Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises have filmed their episodes in luxurious locations. But this season, thanks to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, they had to switch things up.
For this season, producers chose Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. The property is home to a number of luxury hotels and resorts.
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort
If you're a fan of Bachelor Nation, you may know that Nemacolin Woodlands Resort was used as the filming location for Chad Johnson's elimination scene on JoJo Fletcher's season in 2016. The 2,000-acre property is located 70 miles south of Pittsburgh and 190 miles from Baltimore and Washington, DC.
The Laurel Highlands is one of the most scenic areas in Pennsylvania, and Nemacolin Woodlands is right in the middle of it all. It's an incredible place to visit, with plenty of activities, shopping, and wildlife experiences.
What's more, Nemacolin doesn't have a single vibe--you'll see people coming here for different reasons. You'll find couples here, golfers, families with kids ranging from infants to teens.
It's also great for those looking to get away from it all and relax in a tranquil atmosphere. You can stay in a luxury room or suite, and you'll have access to everything that the property has to offer.
The main part of the property is the Chateau, which is inspired by the Ritz in Paris (and has many wings connected to it). It's a huge estate and offers lots of options for rooms, suites and private vacation homes.
Villa De La Vina
When it comes to reality TV, The Bachelor is one of the most iconic shows on television. It's infamous for the over-the-top antics and the lavish trappings that have become synonymous with the show.
The Bachelor and its sister show The Bachelorette typically film at the Villa de la Vina, which is located in Agoura Hills, California, in the Santa Monica Mountains of Malibu. But the home isn't just a set; it's actually owned and lived in by contractor Marshall Haraden and his family.
According to a listing on Airbnb, this Mediterranean-style villa in Agoura Hills is available for $6,000 per night. It can accommodate up to 13 guests comfortably and features a pool, two jacuzzis, a pool table, hand-crafted furniture and more.
However, there are a few house rules that guests must abide by. The owners of the villa want to make sure that guests only come and stay at the home for legitimate reasons.
In addition, there are no parties, filming, professional photography or gatherings allowed on the property. If this rule is violated, the villa owner will shut you out and the police will be called for trespassing.
While the home is usually used for filming, it's currently not being filmed because of the coronavirus pandemic that's plaguing Southern California. But if you can afford the price tag, this mansion is certainly worth checking out!
Mystic Falls
Mystic Falls is a picturesque town in southwestern Virginia that has long been a popular tourist destination, and it’s also a major filming location for The Vampire Diaries. The town has a long history of vampires, witches and werewolves, which makes it an uncanny and eerie place to visit.
It’s no wonder the show’s stars are often treated like royalty at Nemacolin, a private resort in western Pennsylvania that’s only 70 kilometres from Pittsburgh. The property, which first appeared on JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette in 2016, is home to several hotels and private estates.
The resort’s property team told Us that Matt James stayed at one of the private estates, called Mystic Falls, during filming for this season of The Bachelor. It’s one of Nemacolin’s five primary properties (along with Falling Rock, The Lodge and several others) that guests can reserve through the resort’s website.
While there are some obvious differences between Mystic Falls and Falling Rock, the accommodations are relatively close to one another on the property, a spokesperson tells Us. They’re both located on 2,000 acres and can be reserved by guests through the resort’s website, which also features a gallery of photos from the hotel’s many past guests, including the Bachelor franchise.
The property’s staff told Us that they implemented strict social distancing measures during the filming of this season’s Bachelor, so contestants remained masked throughout their stay at Nemacolin. The team also said that the resort has increased safety precautions, such as increasing mask requirements and implementing a pandemic protocol.
