where is bridgerton filmed

If you're a fan of the bodice-ripping period drama, Bridgerton, you'll want to know where it's filmed. From Hampton Court Palace to London's Grosvenor Square, there's a wealth of filming locations around Britain.

For example, Wilton House, near Salisbury in Wiltshire, is where we see Daphne and Simon's grand central staircase. It also served as Pemberley in the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

Hampton Court Palace

The former residence of King Henry VIII, Hampton Court Palace is one of the grandest castles in England. Originally designed to rival the Palace of Versailles, the opulent royal complex has a Tudor and baroque design.

The stately home is open to the public for tours, and its famous hedge maze and historic tennis court are also popular attractions. The palace is rumoured to be haunted by the ghost of Henry's fifth wife, Cathrine, who has been seen wandering around its corridors.

As well as filming exterior shots for Queen Charlotte's St James's Palace, the show also used Hampton Court's Great Staircase and Privy Garden. The stunning grounds of this historic property are also the backdrop for many of Bridgerton's balls.

Wilton House

If you’re a fan of Bridgerton, then you’ll know that the bodice-ripping drama has plenty of filming locations around Britain to feast your eyes on. But where are all these locations?

Wilton House, located near Salisbury in Wiltshire, was one of the show’s main filming locations. This massive mansion is a family home, which has been in use since 1544.

As well as being a popular film location, it’s also a beautiful stately home that’s open for day visits and offers guided tours. It’s also been a favourite for other period dramas, including Emma and The Crown.

The Assembly Rooms

The glitzy ballroom scenes from Netflix’s period drama Bridgerton, based on bestselling books by Julia Quinn and narrated in Gossip Girl style by Dame Julie Andrews, were filmed at Bath's Assembly Rooms. These elegant Georgian buildings are a fusion of tea room and ballroom, and the Upper Rooms feature in novels like Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.

The Assembly Rooms in Bath are a great place to experience high society, whether you want to see the grand rooms themselves or just take a look around the fashion museum. Plus, you can book a table at the famous Assembly Rooms restaurant for a scrumptious lunch and some good old-fashioned socialising.

Lancaster House

Bridgerton is one of the most popular period dramas on Netflix. It captivated over 82 million viewers in season one with scandalous and fast-paced storylines.

It’s filmed in all sorts of beautiful places across the UK, from wisteria-clad city mansions to breathtaking country homes. So if you’re looking for a day out that’s filled with beautiful scenery and historic buildings, you’ll want to add these filming locations to your bucket list!

One of the most important filming locations is Lancaster House, which has stood in for Buckingham Palace at least six times in film and television. It has also been used for leading productions like Downton Abbey, The Young Victoria and The King’s Speech.

Painshall Park

Bridgerton is one of Netflix’s most successful dramas, and fans are always wondering where is the show filmed. While it’s set in London, the production team did a lot of filming outside the capital – especially in Bath.

The picturesque Painshill Park is the perfect location for Simon and Daphne to promenade and picnic. The 18th-century landscaped garden features a Gothic temple, serpentine lake and curved bridges.

It also houses the Holburne Museum of Art, which showcases Sir William Holburne’s collection of artworks and heirlooms. It was a key filming location for the many ball dance scenes in season 2.

The Historic Dockyard Chatham

A day out in Chatham is a fun and educational family adventure into the historic, centuries-long shipbuilding heritage. It’s one of Britain’s leading maritime heritage destinations, with three historic warships, a working Victorian Ropery, and stunning collections from two national museums.

The Dockyard offers a wide range of attractions to keep children engaged, including the chance to tour three historic warships (HMS Cavalier, HMS Gannet, and HMS Ocelot), tour a collection of RNLI lifeboats, and explore several interactive galleries.

You can also join a guided walking tour, which focuses on film location sites from the popular TV series Call the Midwife. The tour will bring you to locations where Miranda Hart and Jenny Agutter filmed some of the most memorable scenes.
