Emily Cooper, a former social media strategist from Chicago, moves to Paris to take on a temporary role at Savoir. Despite her struggles with French office culture, she quickly becomes a part of the team.
Her new friend Mindy, a Chinese Korean nanny, becomes her bestie and they frequently meet up in the Jardin du Palais Royal, just a block away from Savoir’s offices. The show also shot scenes in Saint Tropez, a popular holiday destination on the French Riviera.
Place de l’Estrapade
When ambitious Chicago marketing exec Emily (Lily Collins) lands her dream job in Paris, she snags an apartment on the fifth floor of an old building on Place de l’Estrapade. And while the building may not be a luxury residence, it’s certainly a good base from which to explore the city.
While Emily is in the city, she frequents a number of popular tourist attractions, such as the Musee d’Orsay and Galerie Perrotin. In season two, she also visits the French Riviera, including Saint-Tropez, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
Musee d’Orsay
The Musee d’Orsay is one of the most famous art galleries in Paris. It boasts a huge collection of Impressionist artwork and is one of the top places to see in the city.
Located in the 11th arrondissement, this museum is a great place to visit if you’re an art lover. Its popular Atelier des Lumieres is an immersive art centre that uses light, sound and video to breathe life into paintings like Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
It’s also where Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Camille (Camille Razat) take Emily for a Van Gogh exhibit. They’re both impressed by the way the exhibition uses detailed art installations and video to bring the famous artist’s work to life.
Gare du Nord
The Gare du Nord, which was designed by architect Jacques-Ignace Hittorff and completed in 1865, is one of the most famous buildings in Paris and has been described as a'stunning work of art'. It is one of the most important stations in the city, with its vast train-shed used by the Eurostar.
Season two saw Emily venture beyond the tourist spots, spending her birthday at Pere Lachaise cemetery and partying at Galeries Lafayette (specifically its rooftop terrace). Those with an eye for shopping can also check out the covered street Passage Choiseul and the Marche d'Aligre market.
You may also recognise the iconic Cafe de Flore, where we see Emily drinking coffee in Episode 5. It’s a famous spot, frequented by writers, philosophers, actors and designers. It’s also a great place to watch the sun set over the Seine.
Musee de la Vie Romantique
The Musee de la Vie Romantique is a museum dedicated to the arts under the Restoration and the July Monarchy. Here, you can learn about artists like George Sand and Ary Scheffer who lived here during the period.
You can visit the museum for free if you’re on a Contiki holiday to Paris. The museum’s collection includes artwork from painters like Chopin, Liszt and Lamartine.
Another Emily in Paris hub is the Palais-Royal, which has seen many episodes filmed here. In one episode, Mindy goes to a drag queen club here. And in the latest season, Mindy goes to a launch party here with Emily.
Wall of Love
The Wall of Love, or Le Mur des Je t’aime, is an incredibly romantic spot in Montmartre. It’s made of more than 600 enamelled lava squares, featuring “I love you” in 250 languages.
It’s a popular spot to snap Instagram-worthy photos. It was originally designed in 1830 and it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
You can find it in Jehan-Rictus Square, right behind the Sacre-Coeur.
It’s a beautiful place and it’s free to visit. My secret tip: You can also go there to get an amazing panoramic view of Paris.
