As we're all well aware Love Island is a hit and with the show returning in January, we can't wait to see who gets matched up. The series' latest incarnation is being filmed in South Africa, so we want to know where the villa is located!
The villa is situated in Franschhoek Wine Valley in South Africa, on a secluded hillside. The production team have reportedly got to extreme lengths to make sure the location is secure, including making it off-the-grid to avoid potential intruders.
The villa
Love Island is a reality TV show that features a group of single people who move to a villa to try and find love. It's an exciting and entertaining series that keeps viewers hooked every night.
The first series was filmed in Mallorca, but due to unpredictable weather conditions during the winter the production crew have decided to film in South Africa for the new winter series.
This season’s Love Island villa is located on a 25-acre estate in Franschhoek, near Cape Town, and has all of the usual amenities. There’s an enormous swimming pool, a gym area and a hideaway where couples can get away from it all.
While some of the villa is familiar, it has been completely renovated and upgraded for this season. Kingsnorth gives a tour of the villa and shows off some of its hottest new features, including a massive dressing room that’s been decked out with beauty products, and a vibrant pink bedroom where couples sleep at night.
The competitions
Love Island is a British reality television show that has seen swimwear-clad twentysomethings spend weeks in a luxury villa attempting to find their romantic match for a PS50,000 prize. The series is screened six nights a week on ITV2, with the winner being announced via an app.
To film the competition, a team of producers works to ensure that everything goes according to plan, from choosing when the camera shots will be taken to editing the footage into a smooth, entertaining hour. This is something that’s a lot more difficult than it looks.
The show’s producer, Georgia Townend, revealed that they’re also responsible for ensuring that the contestants don’t break any rules during their stay. For example, they’re not allowed to smoke on the villa premises.
As well as this, they’re not allowed to use their own personal phones during the show. They only have a special phone that’s used to receive text messages on new arrivals or challenges.
The contestants
Love Island is one of the most popular reality shows in the world. It first launched in the UK, but now it has spawned a whole franchise of versions across the globe.
Each season, a group of sexy singles are isolated in a villa, where they're trying to find love. The latest series of the show is set to kick off on 16th January.
The show is filmed in various locations around the world, including Fiji, Las Vegas and California. This year, however, the production team have chosen a secluded South African villa for the winter series.
The villa is situated in Franschhoek Wine Valley's'millionaire's row'. This makes it a super-secluded and private area to film, which is ideal for keeping intruders out. It also boasts some stunning views of the surrounding mountains and palm trees.
The producers
Love Island is a show that has captivated the nation with its sexy young people vying for each other's attention. But behind the scenes, it's all a bit more complicated than that.
For starters, the producers are involved in every little detail to ensure that each episode flows seamlessly. That includes filming dramatic scenes several times so that no drama is missed.
The recoupling moments are also filmed more than once, which is a great way to make sure that no one's left in tears.
Aside from ensuring that everything is filmed in a professional manner, Love Island also has some pretty strict rules. For example, it's not allowed for the islanders to smoke on the show and they can only vape away from the cameras.
Another secret is that if any islanders plan to chat to someone, they have to tell the producers so that they can record it. This was revealed by ex-Islander Tyla Carr.
