Dysart Harbour is a picturesque port in the Kingdom of Fife. It has a long history as a port, shipping out salt and coal to the Low Countries. It also built a number of ships during its time as a port.
In Outlander, the harbour was used as the French port of Le Havre in Season 2 where Claire and Jamie arrive with Murtagh aboard the Christabel. The Harbourmasters house was used to represent the port, and on the West side of the harbour were the historic buildings of Le Havre.
The Harbourmasters house is now the headquarters of the Fife Countryside Trust, a B-listed 19th century building that is well worth a visit. It's a great place to learn more about the harbour and what's available in Dysart.
The harbour is a popular destination for leisure and fishing boats, and it's possible to stay overnight in the area. The Royal Hotel Dysart is a good choice for travellers and it's located right in the town centre.
Drummond Castle is an impressive location that's been used for numerous scenes in Outlander. It's a great place to visit if you're keen on exploring Scotland.
It's situated in the Muthill parish, 4 kilometres south of Crieff. It has a tower house built in the 15th century and a mansion.
The castle is also famous for its gardens which are considered to be the best example of formal terraced gardens in Scotland and Europe. They are protected as a category A listed building and the Tower and Mansion are both B listed buildings.
The garden was used for the episode "Untimely Resurrection" as the Gardens of Versailles when Claire and Jamie are there. There are many things you can do at the garden including walking, reading a book, or just sitting and taking in the view. It's also dog friendly but you must always keep your pet on a lead.
