where is schitts creek filmed

Schitt's Creek is a Canadian comedy that has gained international fame. Created by father-son duo Eugene and Daniel Levy, it's a funny, cool show with some seriously good talent.

The show is shot in and around Toronto, but it also uses a number of iconic locations in southern Ontario. If you're a diehard fan, you might want to make the trek out to some of the iconic filming spots for Schitt's Creek.

Pinewood Studios

Pinewood Studios is one of the world’s best known film production facilities. Home to the 007 Stage, a large backlot and numerous TV studios, it has been serving the production industry for over 85 years.

Amongst the countless iconic films filmed at Pinewood are Oliver Twist and London Melody, the first James Bond movie, Dr. No, and a series of blockbusters, including The Red Shoes and Space: 1999.

The studios were built by millionaire Methodist and flour magnate J. Arthur Rank in 1935 with architect George Boot. He named the site Pinewood after the number of trees on the estate, and Boot based his designs on ideas being used by Hollywood film studios.

The 007 Stage is probably the most famous feature-film stage at Pinewood, but the studio also boasts several other stages, a television studio and a unique water filming facility. The Richard Attenborough stage is named after the BBC's naturalist presenter, and there are two specialist TV studios, referred to as TV-one and TV-two, which offer integral galleries and SD or HD facilities.

Unionville

The charming town of Unionville is a perfect backdrop for the fictional Schitt’s Creek. It is home to a number of filming locations, including Crock-a-Doodle, the Blouse Barn and Ted’s Veterinary Clinic.

The main street of this charming Ontario village is a popular place to visit and has a strong “whimsical” feel. If you’re looking for a day trip that will get you away from the hustle and bustle of Toronto, Unionville is the perfect spot to explore!

Besides being a great place to shop, Unionville has an interesting history. The area used to be a major industrial center, and during the 1800s it had 4 paper mills as well as 14 other manufacturing companies.

In addition to its charm, Unionville is also known for its role in the Underground Railroad. During the 1840s, Unionville Tavern became an important hub for fugitive slaves who escaped to Canada through tunnels.

Goodwood

Schitt's Creek has become a Canadian comedy gem that has gained international fame from Netflix. But you might be surprised to learn that the show was actually filmed in a very real town called Goodwood, Ontario.

Goodwood is a tiny hamlet in the township of Uxbridge, Ontario, just 36 miles northeast of Toronto. The creators of the series scouted over 30 towns before settling on Goodwood.

They chose this little community because it is a one-intersection town where most businesses are on the same corner. This keeps the small town feel while still offering plenty of things to do and see.

Some of the most popular locations from the show include Bob's Garage, Rose Apothecary (a wool shop), and Cafe Tropical. These are all located right at the intersection of Front Street and Durham Regional Highway 47 in Goodwood.

Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area

The scenic Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area is one of the most popular spots in Ontario to enjoy a hike or camping. The park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, known for its unique cliff habitat along the Niagara Escarpment.

The conservation area is home to a variety of plant and animal species, including turkey vultures soaring above the escarpment from Buffalo Crag lookout point. You can also admire the thousand-year-old cedar trees that grow throughout the park.

A popular spot for outdoor adventurers, Rattlesnake Point features 10 kilometres of cliff edge trails with multiple lookout points and forest areas. It's also an excellent place for rock climbing!

There are three hiking trails in the park, including the Nassagaweya Canyon Trail. It's a 4.7km route that will take you about 3-4 hours to complete.
