When you’re watching Southern Charm, you can’t help but notice all of the beautiful places the cast visits while filming. You also see plenty of historic landmarks, plantations and restaurants.
This reality show is filmed mainly in Charleston, S.C. It’s a place that has so much to offer, and the cast can’t wait to show off their favorite spots!
The reality TV show Southern Charm gives us an inside look at the lives of a group of socialites in Charleston, South Carolina. It also showcases the historical and political history of the city.
The cast members own homes and plantations throughout the city of Charleston, South Carolina. The show often uses the plantations as backdrops for dramatic moments.
One of the most popular filming locations is Brookland Plantation, located on Edisto Island. This 60-acre property once prospered as an indigo farm and later transitioned to Sea Island cotton.
On the grounds of Brookland Plantation, you will find a stunning 3/4 mile Avenue of the Oaks that is draped in Spanish moss. It is a must-see for anyone visiting Charleston.
Another plantation used for filming is McLeod Plantation which was featured on the movie The Notebook. Other notable Southern Charm filming locations include Patricia Altschul’s Charleston mansion.
Charleston’s King Street is home to some of the cities most iconic restaurants and bars. The pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, chic boutiques, and historic three-story brick and stucco buildings only bolster the street’s position as one of the country’s top shopping streets.
Southern Charm’s cast members have long been regulars at Republic Garden & Lounge, which is owned by Leva Bonaparte and her husband, Lamar. The restaurant is famous for its steak and French oyster bar and has been a favorite hangout for Craig Conover, Thomas Ravenel, and Shephard.
Earlier this year, she started filming her spin-off show, Leva Land, at Republic, according to E! News.
The spin-off series follows the lives of the restaurant’s employees and friends. The show also stars Madison Simon and Naomie Olindo. And of course, fans will get a glimpse at the glitz and glam of Bourbon Street as the characters navigate heartache, business lives, and endless parties.
As one of the nation’s oldest cities, Charleston’s historic churches are some of the most impressive and beautiful in the country. Whether you’re visiting the city or just want to take a break from the bustling streets, it’s worth spending some time exploring these historic structures.
The Circular Congregational Church, located in the French Quarter neighborhood of Charleston, was built by some of the first colonists to settle in the area. This unique circular brick structure was designed by Robert Mills in 1804.
During the Civil War, the church was damaged but was thankfully saved from the pillage of the North when the organist was convinced to stop the pillagers before any damage occurred. The church is open for tours Monday-Friday, with services on Sunday.
Another church that’s worth visiting is Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, aka Mother Emanuel, which was founded in 1817 and has been serving the black community since then. This church has survived earthquakes, fires, and other natural disasters.
Whether they are in town for business or on vacation, the cast of Southern Charm doesn't shy away from Charleston's best eateries. From bars that serve up coastal-inspired cocktails to stunning modern nightclubs, Charleston's restaurants have something for everyone.
One of the most frequent spots filmed on Southern Charm is Republic Garden & Lounge, which is owned by Leva Bonaparte and her husband Lamar Bonaparte. This upper King Street restaurant has long been a favorite hangout of the cast, including Craig Conover and Thomas Ravenel.
In addition to Republic, the couple also owns Bourbon N' Bubbles and 1st Place as well as Mesu, a fusion sushi restaurant. It will be interesting to see how their current feud affects the restaurant.
Shep Rose's Sewing Down South, which he owns with his girlfriend Kathryn Morris, is another popular spot for the Southern Charm cast to grab a bite. Located in the Upper King Street area, it's not uncommon to run into Shep while enjoying a glass of wine and live jazz music.
