Where Is The Challenge Filmed?

where is the challenge filmed

The Challenge is one of MTV's most popular reality competition shows, but where does it film? Throughout the show's history, the cast has traveled around the globe.

This season, The Challenge USA is filmed in Argentina. The Paramount Plus report revealed that upon arrival in Argentina, the reality stars are given $1,000 to start their "challenge accounts."

South Africa

When it comes to filming challenges, South Africa certainly isn't short of a few. This continent boasts some of the world's most spectacular scenery and a large selection of natural and manmade attractions, including Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope.

It's also a major tourist destination, with many visitors en route to the Kruger National Park. That's why it makes sense that a global reality competition would be filmed there.

The Challenge: World Championship was filmed in the country's largest city, Cape Town, between October and November 2022. The show was able to hire some of its production equipment locally, but most came from the US. With the warm weather and temperate conditions, it was an ideal place for outdoor stunts and a plethora of water and dune-based challenges.

The Challenge is a reality competition series on MTV that's spun off from two of the network's other shows. The show airs on Wednesday nights at 9/8c and stars contestants from Love Island, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, and Survivor.

The challenge's latest season is back on TV and it features new pairs of celebrity contestants, all vying for the title of World Champion. It's hosted by TJ Lavin and he reveals that this season will be filmed in Argentina!

TJ shared an exclusive sneak peek at the show's house in Argentina, showing off its gorgeous yard area. The house is surrounded by greenery and features a pool, spa, gym, and outdoor bar.

It's a bit of a shock to learn that the challenge isn't filmed in the United States, but it's not completely out of the question, especially since production costs are much lower abroad. And it's likely a move in Paramount Plus's bid to get more subscribers, as they want more content outside of the United States.

For season 36, the producers of the long-running MTV competition series The Challenge filmed in Iceland. They chose to film in the capital city of Reykjavik, primarily because it had "a stunning backdrop," according to executive producer Emer Harkin.

When the teams want to go out on the town after a day of competition, they hop in a van and follow the camera crews to a location that production has scouted. This season, however, due to travel restrictions, that wasn't an option.

During the course of filming, the team that flew into Iceland took over an entire hotel for their stay. They were separated from the challengers and wore colored bands that represented a special tier system they created.

During the season, they also filmed an overnight stage, where teams must spend the night in an ice cave. The first team to complete the previous day's checkpoint is given a waterproof sleeping bag, while the second and third teams are provided duvets and blankets.

With each season of 'The Challenge,' the show's producers shift the filming location to a new exotic place to take advantage of the weather and scenery. With Season 37, 'Spies, Lies & Allies' was filmed in Vrsar, a small seaside town on the Istria peninsula of Croatia.

As part of the 37th season of 'The Challenge,' the contestants went to Croatia for a spy-themed game that saw them competing against 17 international reality stars. They were pitted against one another in mental and physical challenges that challenged them to their limits to avoid elimination and win a million dollars.

The competition was filmed in complete secrecy, according to a report by Glas Istre. The town of Vrsar had no knowledge of the show, and the 'Challenge' crew and contestants were housed in a private hotel.
