ABC’s new reality series, “The Ultimate Surfer,” brings top up-and-coming surfers to a surf ranch for a shot at the World Surf League’s world tour. The competition entails individual and team challenges, and features surfing legend Kelly Slater as a consultant and correspondent.
Filming for the show began in April and May 2020. However, a pandemic of Covid-19 put the project on hold until August 2020.
A lot of Hawaii’s surfers are making a name for themselves on the international surfing circuit, and one of those is Kayla Durden. She’s competing on the new ABC series, The Ultimate Surfer, against six other talented female surfers: Anastasia Ashley, Tia Blanco, Brianna Cope, Malia Ward, Bruna Zaun and Juli Hernandez.
The show will air Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
In addition to the surf competitions, the show also shows viewers how the contestants live and train together, as well as their group dynamics. Some of the contestants were born and raised in Hawaii, including Kai Barger of Maui and Austin Clouse of Oahu.
