where is upload filmed

Amazon Prime Video's Upload is set in a speculative future where humans can pay to be uploaded into a virtual afterlife. Featuring Robbie Amell, Andy Allo and Allegra Edwards as the show's main cast, Upload has been a top-ten comedy original since its debut.

As the primary setting for the show's Lakeview Resort, Mohonk Mountain House filmed the exterior and establishing shots of this fictional location. It is also where the first episode of Upload was filmed.

Locations

In the year 2033, dying humans can upload their souls to a virtual afterlife that may or may not be as exciting as they are told it is. Starring Robbie Amell, Andy Allo and Allegra Edwards, 'Upload' is a must-watch for anyone with a hankering for a futuristic tale of life, death, and afterlife.

The show was filmed in Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, & New Westminster, as well as Los Angeles and San Francisco. The best part is that it was a breeze to get the production crew on set thanks to the burgeoning film industry in this corner of the world. It's worth a visit or two to see how the locals got down and dirty with their cameras. You can also learn more about the production and a few of the cast & crew through their profiles at Upload HQ. The site's interactive gallery and library of production photos are a must-visit for any fan of the series.

Season 1

Upload is the new science fiction comedy series from Greg Daniels and Howard Klein, producers of The Office. The show stars Robbie Amell and Andy Allo, and is set in a future world where humans can upload their consciousness into digital afterlives.

The first season of upload filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. However, it's pretty obvious that many of the scenes were shot in front of a green screen to make them look like they were in the Hudson Valley.

One of the most iconic landmarks in Upstate New York is the Mohonk Mountain House, which appears as Lakeview in the series. The Victorian castle resort is surrounded by 40,000 acres of forest, so it's no surprise that it's used as a filming location.

During the show's production, Mohonk Mountain House was featured in some shots of the virtual Lakeview, but they were probably all shot on a green screen with stock footage of Upstate New York later inserted. Regardless, the mansion is certainly an incredibly picturesque setting for upload.

Season 2

In the year 2033, people can choose to be “uploaded” into a virtual afterlife. This is the premise of Upload, which starred Robbie Amell as Nathan Brown and was developed by Greg Daniels, creator of The Office.

The show focuses on the world of Lakeview, a futuristic afterlife where users can pay for a data plan and access to a virtual paradise. When computer programmer Nathan Brown (Amell) dies in a car crash, his consciousness is uploaded into the luxurious afterlife Lakeview.

Once Nathan’s consciousness is transferred to the virtual afterlife, he meets his customer service angel Nora Anthony (Andy Allo). She initially acts as a charismatic concierge and guide but soon becomes Nathan’s best friend and confidante.

Season 2 of Upload filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. While the main scenes were shot in studios, there were some outdoor shots filmed at Mohonk Mountain House in Ulster County, N.Y. This location provided exterior shots of Lakeview, while the dock and surrounding park were filmed at Deer Lake Park in British Columbia.

Season 3

Upload, from writer Greg Daniels (The Office), is an irreverent and hilarious take on the futuristic world of humans choosing to be uploaded into a premium software-based afterlife. It’s been a hit with Amazon Prime Video and is also a contender for the top comedy on the platform.

Season 1 spent its time getting us acquainted with this unique world, as Nathan (Robbie Amell) adjusted to his new afterlife. He slowly fell in love with his customer support angel, Nora (Andy Allo), but her disappearance drew the attention of his girlfriend from before, Ingrid (Allegra Edwards).

After a brief lull in Season 2, Nathan and Ingrid are back on track. They undergo couple’s therapy, and he learns that his clone body is rejecting him. As a result, Ingrid steals hairs from his old hairbrush, which she uses to grow him a new body.
