where is when calls the heart filmed

When Calls the Heart is one of the most popular Hallmark Channel shows. It’s based on Janette Oke’s books and follows the story of Elizabeth Thatcher, who moves to Hope Valley (originally Coal Valley) in the early 20th century Canadian West.

The series’ filming locations are incredibly picturesque, with stunning mountain views and quaint town squares. If you’re a fan of the show, it’s worth a trip to see them in person.

Coal Valley

The quaint mining town of Coal Valley, now known as Hope Valley, is so gorgeous in When Calls the Heart that many fans have wondered where it is filmed. Based on Janette Oke’s bestselling book series, the show transports viewers to Western Canada in the early 20th century.

The cast of the show takes advantage of the stunning mountain views and charming towns to give viewers an immersive experience while also paying homage to the history of these locations. One such location is the Fraser River Railway Bridge which was built in 1884 and still stands today.

In addition to the quaint town of Coal Valley, When Calls the Heart also visits other on-location sites. These include mountain trails, homesteads and farms.

The production team has taken great care in recreating the town of Coal Valley so it looks just as authentic as possible. This includes building a replica of the town hall and other buildings.

Hope Valley

Many fans have fallen in love with Hope Valley, the picturesque mining town at the heart of Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart. During the show’s nine-year run, it has also been a source of countless fan fiction stories.

Based on Janette Oke’s bestselling Canadian West books, the series follows Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), who leaves her high society life to teach in a small coal mining town. She quickly learns to adapt to the Canadian frontier, forming a friendship with Abigail Stanton, mayor of Hope Valley.

During her time in Hope Valley, she meets businessman Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally). He develops feelings for her and eventually becomes her romantic interest.

In season five, Jack Thornton dies and Elizabeth is left alone in Hope Valley without her husband. She finds a new Mountie, Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry). As the two grow closer, they discover that they have a lot more in common than they thought.

Fort Langley

Fort Langley, located in the Fraser Valley area of British Columbia, was a popular filming location for the series. It’s also a wonderful place to visit in its own right!

The small town of Fort Langley is known for its historic buildings, picturesque scenery and beautiful vistas. It has a number of tourist attractions to explore including the famous Fort Langley National Historic Site, which is a must-see for anyone visiting this region.

It’s also a great place for shopping. With a variety of high-end boutiques, antique shops and art galleries, as well as quaint cafes, bistros and brew-tasting houses, the village offers something for everyone!

If you’re a coffee lover, don’t miss Republica Coffee Roasters! They have a fantastic array of flavours and are conveniently located in downtown Fort Langley.

Langley City

The acclaimed period drama When Calls the Heart is filmed on the Jamestown Movie Set located on MacInnes Farm in Langley City, BC. This is the perfect place for fans of the show to visit and take a look at where they can find some of their favorite scenes from the series.

Whether you’re looking to learn about the history of the community or just enjoy some time in nature, Langley City has plenty to offer. From its farms to the downtown core, there’s something for everyone.

Kids will love exploring the BC Farm Museum, where they can see a wide variety of pioneer and agricultural artifacts. The collection features tractors, horse buggies, and so much more. Afterward, they can go on a hands-on workshop to explore the different equipment and discover how it worked. Lastly, they can take part in a scavenger hunt to see how many pieces they can find.
