where is you season 3 filmed

The third season of You, the Netflix thriller based on the books by Caroline Kepnes, sees Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) move to a new city and location. He and his wife Love have relocated to Madre Linda, a San Francisco suburb that seems like the perfect place for two serial killers to hide out.

Van Nuys

You season 3 is now streaming on Netflix, and the series is a hit. Penn Badgley is back to star as the creepy sociopath Joe Goldberg.

In the third season of the hit psychological thriller, Joe and Love have a baby and decide to move away from New York and Los Angeles. They move to a soulless wealthy suburb outside of San Francisco called Madre Linda, a place they describe as a "perfect little town with good schools."

There are a few locations you can visit in and around Van Nuys that were used for filming. The home where Joe and Love live was filmed at 6301 Orion Avenue in Van Nuys, as well as the library where Joe volunteers to work.

Several other scenes in the show were filmed at Paladio Furniture, a real store located at 6732 Van Nuys Boulevard. The interiors of the building as well as its rooftop were used for filming.

Burbank

For fans of You, the series about an obsessive stalker and serial killer, there's a lot to love about its third season. The story continues to follow Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), who's able to charm and beguile a new set of women, but it also shows us how easy it is for anyone to be obsessed.

As Season 3 opens, Joe and his wife Love (Victoria Pedretti) move to Madre Linda, a "soulless wealthy suburb outside of San Francisco." But while it sounds like the perfect place for a new family to live, this fictional neighborhood isn't actually real.

However, if you want to see the area where You was filmed, the filming took place around Burbank and South Pasadena in and around Warner Bros. studios. This included the locations of Joe and Love's home, their 'A Fresh Tart' bakery and the Madre Linda Library where they volunteer to work.

South Pasadena

If you're a fan of the TV series You, then you know how spectacular the show's setting is. The series is set in California, and so it's only natural that many of the filming locations are in Los Angeles.

In Season 3, Joe and Love move to a new suburb called "Madre Linda." While the town isn't actually a real place, it's certainly based on a wealthy, tech-savvy Bay Area neighborhood.

Luckily, South Pasadena is home to some fantastically filmed locations for the show. In fact, some of the most recognizable scenes from You were filmed right here in our fair city!

For example, the Madre Linda Library where Joe and Love go to meet Marienne was actually filmed at South Pasadena's public library. Another famous location spotted in You is the Millennium Biltmore hotel. It was a popular stand-in for the Mad Men hotel. Other restaurants that have been featured in You include Musso & Frank Grill, which was used to film the diner scene where Don meets Bobbie Barrett for lunch.

Madre Linda

After the events of season two, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) and Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) escape to the safest suburb in Northern California, known as Madre Linda. The idyllic setting paints a picture of calm suburban bliss, and despite its appearance, serial killers Joe & Love are terrorizing the area.

The fictional neighborhood is based on the Silicon Valley-adjacent suburbs in Northern California, which are known for being affluent enclaves populated by tech founders and mommy bloggers. However, the town doesn’t actually exist and was created specifically for You season 3.

The house that Joe and Love rent is a comfortable four-bedroom and 3,300 square feet single-level home at 6309 Orion Avenue in Cameron Woods. It has an estimated value of $1,858,000. Matthew’s lair, which is located next door, is a spectacular 4,227 square feet mansion that’s one of the largest in Cameron Woods.
